Here is a quick wrap up of the game between the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings.  Look for more analysis this Tuesday. Summary:  The Packers used a shutdown second half to carry themselves to a 23-14 lead.  The Vikings didn’t score in the second half and quarterback Christian Ponder threw two interceptions.   The Packers used an 11-minute drive, which ended in a Mason Crosby field goal to seal the victory. Quick notes: Packers actually had a solid running game today.  Starks had 66 yards on 15 carries, and Green had 58 yards on twelve carries. Offensive line is still a big issue.  The only time Rodgers wasn’t being pushed out of the pocket was the first drive of the game.  The injury to T.J. Lang certainly didn’t help either. Speaking of injuries, Jordy Nelson came out of the game with a hamstring injury.  Not sure if it’s the same hamstring that cost him a game earlier this season, but it’s a big blow to the receiving group that just got healthy. Greg Jennings, finally back from injury, recorded four catches for 46 yards.  Glad to have him back. Adrian Peterson is not a human being.  He was created in a lab somewhere.  The guy is such a talent: 210 yards on 21 carries and 10 yards per rush.  Unreal. The Packers still struggled with pass rushing.  They never sacked Ponder, but they did get just enough pressure on him to force some bad throws, which was good enough. Mason Crosby hit three out of four field goals.  His first one hit the post and bounced in, the second one missed, but he hit the last two, the final one being the nail in the coffin for the Vikings. Crazy stat of the game: The Minnesota Vikings didn’t complete a pass to a wide receiver until three minutes to go into the game.  I had no idea that was possible, but with Adrian Peterson going full beast mode and Kyle Rudolph catching six passes, the Vikings’ receivers weren’t a factor.  The Vikings’ receiving group is really feeling the loss of Percy Harvin, but it doesn’t help them that Ponder can’t seem to throw the ball downfield. From here, the Packers play Sunday night against the Lions.  That game will be similar to this one in that it is a key conference game that is sure to be a black and blue affair.
