The Raiders were faced with the possibility Thursday of being without one of their most dependable and durable defenders as strong safety Tyvon Branch missed practice for the second straight day because of a neck injury.
Branch, the Raiders' second-leading tackler, has started 57 consecutive games after missing the second half of his rookie season because of shoulder surgery.
"If he's able to practice (today), I'd anticipate he'd be able to play," Raiders coach Dennis Allen said. "I'd have some real concern if he's not able to practice (today)."
It's not known exactly when Branch was hurt. Said safety Mike Mitchell, who would replace Branch, "He was kind of sore, and then on the plane, he was kind of stiff, but we didn't really know anything."
In the same situation as Branch is wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, who has missed the past two practices because of a hamstring strain always a tricky injury for skill position players who depend on speed.

New Not Broken
At this point of the season, I’m not looking at the glass half full, or half empty. I’m just wondering who drank my beer. For the first time this season, I failed to watch the entire Raiders game. After the 3rd quarter, my heart just could not take it anymore. I had to turn it off. I knew how it [...]

Ray Guy Unhappy with Hall of Fame Voters
Associated Press
Oakland Raiders legendary punter Ray Guy is probably the greatest at his position ever in the NFL. What really is surprising, however, is that he still isn’t even in the Hall of Fame yet.
The media and everyone has given special teams a bad name, most for the kickers and punters. Punters are not very favored by the NFL, as seeing a punt play isn’t exactly...

New Orleans Saints at Oakland Raiders: Week 11 NFL Pick
New Orleans Saints (4-5) at Oakland Raiders (3-6)
The Saints are overrated. Yes, they knocked off Atlanta, but Dallas, Carolina, Washington, and Oakland almost did so. Their defense is still a joke. Because of their defense, they rank 28th in yards per play differential and 25th in rate of sustaining drives differential. Their defense ranks dead last in both of those metrics. The...
