Marvin “Snoop” Minnis played wide receiver at Florida State University from ’97-’00. His first 3 years of college he combined for 783 yards and 6 touchdowns, but his Senior year he would nearly double his stats. Chris Weinke was under center in 2000 and found Marvin Minnis 63 times for 1,340 yards and 11 touchdowns. He led the FSU receiving core made up of  future NFL studs Anquan Boldin and Javon Walker. The Seminoles lost to Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl that season, but Snoop went on to be an All-American.

Minnis was drafted in the 3rd round by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2001 NFL Draft. In Snoop’s rookie season he led all Kansas City wide receivers with 511 yards (Tony Gonzalez led the team in receiving yards with 917). Minnis also added one touchdown out of his 33 total receptions from Trent Green. The next season Marvin only played in 2 games, and caught one ball for 4 yards. The following season Minnis signed with Tampa Bay but didn’t get to see the field. In January 2004 he signed with the Miami Dolphins, but was released after Training Camp.

Minnis would go on to sign with the Toronto Argonauts, but like most players who go to the CFL, it didn’t really work out…at least he still has a solid nickname.
