For those of you who were not aware, Joe Flacco is under the microscope. Every player who is about to play in a conference championship game is watched closely, but Flacco is a unique case. Many believe the Ravens continue to win despite him, so they are waiting for Joe to screw up so they can talk about him not being an elite NFL quarterback. Then there are Flacco’s neighbors, who are just concerned for his safety heading into the big weekend.

“I’d never been on a skateboard in my life, so I was literally riding it about 10 feet down my driveway just to see if I could stand on it and stay upright,” Flacco explained Wednesday on NFL Total Access. “One of my neighbors must have called in looking for (Ravens general manager) Ozzie Newsome and left a voicemail on his secretary’s phone saying, ‘Hey, man, you got to let Joe Flacco know we’re trying to win the Super Bowl around here! He’s at home riding a skateboard. Somebody’s got to let him know what the deal is.’”

I’ll admit I probably fall under the category of insanely hardcore fan who should mind his own business, but this would bother me too. Flacco is an adult who can make his own decisions, but the fact that he had never been on a skateboard before doesn’t exactly help his case. That has broken wrist written all over it.

No matter what he does, it seems like Flacco has to hear it from everyone. He has heard it from the media all season long and even had to deal with some criticism from a veteran teammate earlier this week. If Flacco can limit turnovers and help the Ravens win a Super Bowl, he could very well prove he is one of the most mentally tough players in the league.

  • Cut Flacco some slack. He is a winner, has a great ability to manage games so the Ravens "win " . He did the same thing when he was at U of D.
  • At least he was not riding a motorcycle!! He already gets enough crap from his team's defensive players. I don't even care for the Ravens but he has helped him team make the playoffs every year he has been in the league.
  • What a rat!! if that is what Flacco has for a Baltimore fanbase i would ask for a trade. Oh well they'll be home after Sunday and Joe can skateboard to his hearts content
  • Well at least hes not shanking guys in Atlanta....just saying
  • They say only bitches dwell on the past!
  • Some people need to get a life, beyond concerning themselves with someone else's. So, should Joe not fly to the games because there's a chance the plane could malfunction? I'd like to know who the neighbor was, as I'd like them to experience what it's like to have someone's nose where it shouldn't be too.
  • I don't think he has to live in a bubble but under the circumstances of playing in a playoff game in a couple of days skateboarding is a complete disregard of concern for his team mates.I'll bet he still gets paid if he gets hurt.
  • Joe been in the league 4 years. 4 years of play-offs, never missed a game. Joe never say anything when his recievers drop hugh possible game winning passes and there have been many, or Rice fumbles away a play-off game against the Steelers, or his offensive cord coach blows games that are already won with the worst play calling possible etc. Joe just plays football, no crying no whinning. He leaves that to the few babies that are on the team and in the media.

  • This stuff is just a taste of all the bull**** we get from gossip rags, gossip radio and the grandaddy of them all, ESPN which has done more to harm sports in general that it has done good. And you can take that all.....the....way!
  • Joe is a Fighting Blue Hen. He can take the flak. His numbers are not great except one stat - wins v losses.
  • This is Baltimore. Stop Snitchin!!!!!!!!!!
  • Wow, I cannot believe the audacity that some people have! The Ravens will play a great game against the Pats. All of the true Ravens Fans are with you 100%!
  • JOE NEEDS TO PROVE HIMSELF ALITTLE BIT. WE SHOULD BE SCORING FROM THE 2 YARDLINE. TIME TO STEP UP & BE ALEADER NOW !!!!
  • Like to know how sympathetic the Ravens fanbase would be if he fell and broke something so he couldn't play. They would not be so supportive then.
