PLAYERS: Matt Elam
TEAMS: Baltimore Ravens
John Miceli (@JohnMiceli15) 1. Calvin Pryor Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports Calvin Pryor is the best play maker in this years draft.  Pryor had at least 5 tackles in every game but one last season, and had over 10 in three games.  Pryor also had three interceptions last season, and is obviously the strongest safety.  Pryor flat out makes plays, and is the best fit for the Ravens who have been known to have play makers at free safety over the years.  Also, adding another stronger built safety to a secondary that already features Matt Elam will make them that much scarier against the pass and that much more able to support the run defense. The best free agents left by position: Could any help the Baltimore Ravens?

The first wave is over, as the NFL version of “Black Friday” came and went with teams shelling out millions of dollars during the first couple days of free agency. And the second surge has come and gone, with players and teams who decided to be patient, checking out the total landscape, having made decisions. Now, the NFL appears to be in somewhat of a waiting period. Teams have...

Power Rankings: Baltimore Ravens tumble in offseason midpoint edition

Not all of the moves have been made, but most of them are in the books. Players have come and gone, as teams tinker with their rosters, looking to fill holes and upgrade in key positions. Some have tried to make a big splash, while others have been more conservative. Some have simply tried to retain their own players, while others have gone about overhauling a big chunk of their...

Should the Baltimore Ravens uppercut Ray Rice and his contract?

The Baltimore Ravens have stood by their running back, regardless of what the media said.  A matter of fact the team has been very quiet about the entire situation with Ray Rice supposedly “uppercutting” his new wife Janay Palmer.  The team has invested a lot of money in Rice and maybe that is why they […] The post Should the Baltimore Ravens uppercut Ray Rice and his contract...

Owen Daniels has something to prove with Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens may have gotten more than they bargained for with  former Houston Texans tight end Owen Daniels. The Ravens signed Daniels to a one-year deal on Friday, but the tight end is ready to prove to his former team that he has moved on and will be at the top of his game in 2014. Daniels has spent every season playing in Houston under current Ravens Offensive Coordinator...

Wonder what it would be like to have a good inside linebacker…

It’s such a shame that the Baltimore Ravens never drafted any good inside linebackers.  I mean, if you rack your brain for hours, you’ll struggle to come up with one name — just one — that has made a lasting impression on the game of football.  For 17 years, the Ravens have been a franchise that has sorely lacked any motivating presence at middle linebacker, and that probably...

Baltimore Ravens tweet out that Terrance West weighs in at 262 pounds at pro day

Today Terrance West and the Towson football team attended their pro day, and the Baltimore Ravens were quick to post a picture of Terrence West getting measured and weighed in front of their NFL Scouts, but we all hope they made a mistake. The Ravens tweeted a photo saying that West checked in at 5’9 […] The post Baltimore Ravens tweet out that Terrance West weighs in at 262...

Joe Flacco Excited About Ravens ‘Explosive’ Offseason Additions

The Ravens made some quality additions to the roster, but I’m not sure how explosive any of them are. 2013 was a terrible year for Joe Flacco all in all.  Add on the fact that he won a Super Bowl and got a huge contract for the work he did in 2012, and you can see why Flacco was so down in the dumps. Part of the blame was the lack of weapons around Flacco to work with.  The Ravens...

Ravens have had their share of Draft busts, too…

I know the deal in Baltimore has been “In Ozzie We Trust”… but the fact is, if you look at the record closely enough, Ozzie Newsome’s biggest contribution has been in picking up free agents, and not so much in the early round Draft process… The Draft for the most part in recent Ravens’ history has been a bust. First there are the usual “bad-pick” suspects: Kyle Boller...

Report: Free Agent S Christian Thompson Working Out For Redskins Wednesday

Matt Zenitz of the Carroll County Times reports that free agent S Christian Thompson will work out for the Redskins Wednesday. Thompson, 23, was a fourth-round pick of the Ravens back in 2012. He appeared in six games for them during the 2012 season, but was released back in October shortly after he finished serving a four-game ban for violating the league’s substance...

Tampa Bay Buccaneers trade C Jeremy Zuttah to the Baltimore Ravens

Trade for Ravens: The Ravens desperately needed a new center as Gino Gradkowski struggled mightily in his first season as a starter in place of the retired Matt Birk. The 2012 4th round pick graded out as Pro Football Focus’ worst ranked center last season. Jeremy Zuttah is not a great center, grading out 22nd ranked center out of 35 eligible last season and 24th out of 36 eligible...

Team Needs at ILB: Is there actually a need, and why?

Last offseason, when the Ravens and Ray Lewis rode off into the sunset after the franchise’s second Super Bowl victory, there were holes to fill on the roster that far outweighed any others Ozzie Newsome dealt with in his tenure.  With Ray Lewis and Ed Reed departing, the Ravens essentially ran the risk of losing themselves, as those two had embodied the effort and values that...

Baltimore Ravens Plan of Attack for the 2014 NFL Draft

With the Draft just over the horizon, it’s time to take a detailed look at each team’s acquisitions and losses and gauge a plan of attack for how they should approach the first three rounds of this year’s draft.  We’ll start with the lowly Houston Texans and work our way all the way up to the Super Bowl Champs in Seattle.  The Baltimore Ravens are up on Onebar’s Birthday...

John Harbaugh doesn’t like offseason workout rules

var ACE_AR = {Site: '898551', Size: '468060', CallType: 'IFRAME'}; NFL players and coaches have been limited in the time they can interact with one another since the 2011 CBA and some NFL coaches are unhappy with the new rules. Baltimore Ravens HC John Harbaugh made it clear how he felt. “This is not the NCAA,” Harbaugh said. “This is not recruiting...

2014 Preseason: Kaep, Romo, RGIII and Brees

The Ravens’ preseason will have no shortage of star power, and there are some interesting storylines to accompany the big names. The first of the four games is a rematch of Super Bowl XLVII, and the Harbaugh Bowl Pt. II will take place on Thursday, August 7 at M&T Bank Stadium.  Although the game is on the opposite side of the spectrum as far as importance is concerned, the...
