Ed Reed is the consummate student of the game. Not only has he always been an exceptional safety, but he’s also knowledgeable beyond his years about the sport of football. Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome is clearly aware of that, and in an effort to keep that knowledge in Baltimore for as long as he can, he has offered Reed a coaching job as soon as he retires, according to USA TODAY. “Ed wants to be a coach, so he sees this as an opportunity to start his coaching career by helping those young players come along,” Newsome said. “The thing about Ed is, he doesn’t just talk about it. He goes out and works the way you have to work to get it done. “That’ll be up to Ed Reed. That will be something that (Ravens owner) Steve (Bisciotti) and I can talk about. But Ed still has a lot of football left to play. So we’ll cross that hurdle. If Ed decides he wants to do that, I think we can find a way.” I like the sound of that.

Ed Reed speculates that Ray Lewis may not retire after the Super Bowl

Despite the fact that Ray Lewis emphatically told teammates that this was his last ride and reportedly signing a deal to join ESPN, there are many that believe that Ray Lewis will be on the field next season. And just in case those people needed more reason to think Lewis will be back next season, Ed Reed told reporters to not be “so sure” that Lewis will retire after the Super...

Ed Reed Says Ray Lewis Could Play Again Next Year, Says Not to Be ‘So Sure’ He’ll Retire

Ray Lewis is finishing a solid NFL career the way every player dreams about. He’s logged 17 seasons, brought in countless accolades, won a Super Bowl, secured a post-retirement deal with ESPN and has a chance to go out on top with a championship. But, like many athletes, Lewis may be subject to that age-old malady: not knowing when to hang it up. While Lewis announced before the...

The 11-year veteran and one of the most respected players in the NFL said Monday at the Super Bowl that Obama's comments questioning the safety of the game are on target. Reed added he'd like...

Could Ed Reed Be A Patriot Next Season?

According to multiple reports, there is a significant chance that come March, Ravens safety Ed Reed will end his time in Baltimore and become a free agent.  While it is unlikely that at the age of 34 many teams would be willing to offer him enough money to lure him away from the team he has spent his entire career with, ESPN’s Adam Schefter and SI.com’s Peter King both reported...

Ed Reed and Ray Lewis Hugging after a win (AP Photo) One of the biggest story lines heading into Super Bowl XLVII is that Ray Lewis will play his final game in the NFL after 17 great seasons. Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed seems to still be holding out  hope that his teammate, linebacker Ray Lewis won’t retire after this week’s Super Bowl. “Maybe he’ll play 10 games next year,” said Reed, per NFL.com. Lewis has already made it clear that he’s not pulling a Brett Favre.  Once he says he’s done, he’s done. Even though Reed has already made it clear he’ll...

It’s no secret that Patriots coach Bill Belichick is a giant fan of Ed Reed. NFL players are dying ... and few care

The Super Bowl is, at its core, a party. It is the NFL's celebration of itself and its awesomeness. And like any party, there are certain unwritten rules of etiquette. There are things you just do not talk about -- and safety is one of them. So when an interview in which President Obama said that, if he had a son he'd "have to think long and hard" about letting...

Ray Ray Got That Gospel In His Bones

Super Bowl Media week started today and I thought it’d be fun to guess some of the things that Ray Lewis will say to reporters. Remember, he is the lamb bone of god now, or however that phrase goes. “And so the almighty spoke in to my helmet and told me, Ray, son, are we human? Or are we dancers?” “And he who cast the first rock towards my kingdom will suffer a grievous injury...

The Ravens take on the San Francisco 49ers. Lewis told the crowd...
