Another Ravens player has been placed on the season-ending injured reserve list.
The Ravens announced Saturday afternoon that they have placed rookie fourth-round pick Christian Thompson on IR. Thompson, a safety, had seen most of his playing time come on special teams. He had been dealing with a knee injury.
To take Thompson’s spot on the roster, the Ravens elevated safety Anthony...
It took until Friday, but now it really does feel like Steelers-Ravens week after Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith took to Twitter Friday afternoon to tweet a few lyrics from the song Renegade. An hour later Smith took his foot off the gas a little by tweeting, "That place goes nuts when they play that song....gotta love big games in great football environments"...
Despite declaring that he's 100 percent recovered from his right knee and right thigh injuries a day earlier, Ravens defensive end Pernell McPhee is officially listed as doubtful on the injury report.
The Ravens' starting left end didn't practice today, and is now regarded as a long shot to play in Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It was a rare sight last Sunday to have Ravens Pro Bowl defensive tackle Haloti Ngata fully suited up and standing on the sidelines and not play a single snap.
The Ravens opted to rest Ngata during a 55-20 rout of the Oakland Raiders due to his sprained right knee and right shoulder injury.
Now, Ngata says he feels rejuvenated heading into Sunday night's AFC North showdown...
The Ravens continued to tinker with their secondary today as they placed rookie safety Christian Thompson on injured reserve and elevated safety Anthony Levine to their 53-man roster.
Levine had been on the Ravens' practice squad. Levine, 25, spent the majority of the 2010-11 seasons on the practice squad of the Green Bay Packers and has yet to play in an NFL game.
The Ravens have settled down and now have the lead against the Steelers. Free agent pick up Jacoby Jones took a punt 63 yards to give the Ravens a 10-7 lead.
Baltimore’s defense, particularly linebacker Paul Kruger, has been playing better since Pittsburgh’s initial drive of the game.
Ravens starting cornerback Jimmy Smith is expected to return this season following sports hernia surgery, coach John Harbaugh reiterated today.
Smith underwent a procedure Thursday morning in Philadelphia and is ruled out for Sunday night's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Although the former first-round draft pick is out for an indefinite period of time, the Ravens...

We are only hours away from the first Steelers/Ravens matchup of the 2012 season, and the anticipation is out of control. While much of the attention this week has been on the quarterback position of the Steelers regarding the injury to Ben Roethlisberger and the subsequent anointing of Byron Leftwich as temporary starter, it cannot be ignored that Joe Flacco has...
Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta has been ruled out for the remainder of the game with a concussion, according to a team official.
Pitta left the game in the first quarter and returned to the locker room to be examined after being shaken up early in tonight's AFC North clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He was tackled by safety Ryan Clark and linebacker Lawrence Timmons.
For the Ravens, cornerback Jimmy Smith is out after undergoing surgery on his sports hernia. The 2011 first-round pick is expected to return this season. The Ravens will also be without nose tackle Terrence Cody, who missed Friday's practice with an elbow injury.

The Black and Blue division certainly seems to have a lot of bruises this year. The Bengals are experiencing a sophomore slump and appear to be out of the division race, while the Browns have once again drafted a quarterback who isn't going to automatically make them contenders. The two Super Bowl contenders in the division keep getting hurt, losing essential players while fighting...
The Sunday night game features one of my favorite rivalries in sports in the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Unfortunately in this one, it is not going to be “what it could be” as the Steelers super star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be watching the game from the sidelines in this one.
In gambling, quarterbacks are the main position that moves the betting...
