When free agency begins tomorrow (Tuesday) at 2:00 p.m. (MT), the Denver Broncos will have lots of money to spend and plenty of positions to upgrade.

Running back may be among the positions that Denver will pursue, and a certain division rival’s running back can see himself in a Broncos uniform, per BoltBeat.com.  San Diego Chargers‘ free agent running back Mike Tolbert considers Denver among seven possible destinations for himself this off-season.

Appearing on a SiriusXM NFL Radio program hosted by Adam Schein on Monday, Tolbert listed the Buccaneers, Steelers, Giants, Broncos, Chiefs, Packers and Dolphins as possible fits.  Whether those seven teams would be interested is unknown, but we agree that Tolbert would be a good fit for Denver.

A fifth year player, Tolbert weighs in and measures up at five foot, nine inches and 243 pounds.  A bruiser who rushed for 490 yards and eight touchdowns last season, Tolbert is also productive in the receiving game.

With running back Knowshon Moreno possibly headed out of Denver, the Broncos will need to find a compliment to starter Willis McGahee this 0ff-season.  The ideal goal-line runner, Tolbert may be just the thing Denver’s backfield is missing — the ability to bunch the ball in from short distances.

Last season, quarterback Tim Tebow led the team in rushing touchdowns with six (McGahee scored four).  Since the 2010 season, Tolbert has rushed for 19 touchdowns — many of them in goal-line situations — and has added two more scores by way of receptions.

Tolbert would undoubtedly improve Denver’s backfield, and he would be open to joining the team.  The question is, will the Broncos pursue him?

Do you think Tolbert would be a good fit in Denver’s backfield?  Do you think the team should try to sign him?  Let us know in the comments below!
