An Achilles tendon injury ruined running back Mikel Leshoure’s first season. In 2012, groin and hamstring issues derailed his second season and kept him from playing consistent. He enters year three in the crucial, ‘make it or break it’ role. The offseason acquisition of Reggie Bush sent a glaring signal that the Detroit Lions aren’t waiting on him. Bush has shown he can be a lead back and pass catching skill are going to get him a lot of touches, but the team needs Leshoure power running style to create a solid one–two punch. “I’ve just got to get healthy,” Leshoure said, via Carlos Monarrez  of the Detroit Free Press. “Last year I was just dealing with a lot of things, nagging injuries weren’t where they needed to be coming off the first year of my injuries. I’ve just got to get healthy and consistency will come when you’re healthy.” “You know, you can’t be up one week, down another regardless of circumstances and things like that,” coach Jim Schwartz said. “I think that’s probably his biggest challenge. It’s something he’s been working through this off-season and that’s something he’s going to have to put behind him as a player.”
