Running back Hillman was drafted with the 67th pick in the 3rd round by the Denver Broncos. In 2012, of Hillman's 107 carries , 30 went for no gain or went for negative yardage. He was easily stopped due to a lack of power running at the line of scrimmage and a tendency to dance in the backfield. Hillman needs to keep his weight consistent over the season and demonstrate he can run with power between the tackles and improve in pass protection. However, Hillman has the speed and explosiveness to becomes the team's primary running back. He says he's worked on getting his weight up and worked on being more decisive in the Broncos zone blocking scheme. "Come the opener, I want to be the guy back there," Hillman said, via Jeff Legwold of the Denver Post. "I can't lie. I want it to be me and I'm pushing to be that guy." "We're all just in there doing our thing," Hillman said. "Everybody wants to play and I think all of us feel like we can play. I know it's about production, that I have to produce to be in there. That's how they'll decide: who's producing." On bulking up to add more power running to his game: "Hopefully it means 5 more yards after contact," Hillman said. "But I feel like I have the same speed to do what I need to do. I know I have to have both — have to hold up and have that speed."
