Whoa. I just woke up from a 4-hour nap, still slightly buzzed, and I don't have any idea where my glasses are. I think I may have lost them in the fracas of the Bills stunning win. I also happened to win Bills/Ravens tickets somehow while going to McFaddens to #supportsally. Seriously, life is good right about now. As for today's game, there was some sort of peaceful/tranquility for me during it. I was as confident as you could get during the game. I have zero idea what it was. Was it EJ Manuel being a fresh idea in which he could lead us to a win? Was it Mario Williams being worth his money? Was it going to a Bills infested bar like McFaddens and winning tickets? The booze? I have zero idea. But today was magical. Yes, we lower the bar like no other fan base, but between Doug Marrone crying after the game, EJ embracing his father and Stevie Johnson's redemption act, how could you not feel excited or feel for the team after today's win. Sports are ****** great! The most profound thing I said today was when I looked at The Apologist from "Dear God, Why us?" Sports before the final drive and drunkenly said "This is EJ's moment! Maybe he will do what Jim Kelly did against the Dolphins in 1989."  That play..which I watched as a kid..resonates with me more than anything. It was a defining moment that really showed Bills fans what they had with #12. I don't know if today's last drive was a copy of that.. But at least the hope was there. EJ Manuel showed that when you put the game in the palm of his hands, good things can happen. It looked easy, didn't it on the final drive? Maybe it was the penalties or how the Panthers just choked it up, but EJ showed a lot of poise on that last drive. Those moments are why you want to have a franchise QB. Not just because they are soooooo good, but because they represent hope in achieving greatness.  Hope that when the chips are all pushed to the center of the table, you may actually look like a decent gambler. Hopefully, this will be a fun start to the EJ Manuel era like it was when Kelly dived into the endzone over 25 years ago. ---Mario ****** Williams. I don't care how Jerry Sullivan or the "Get off my lawn" jackasses try to minimize his effort. That guy brought it today. 4.5 sacks is nothing to marginalize. Not Bruce Smith. Not Aaron Schobel. Not Bryce Paup. Not anyone else in Bills history has accomplished that during a game. Bull rush, speed rush...It didn't matter. Hell, he almost had 6 sacks today and was great on run support. Also, Cam Netwon isn't a sack prone (Dropped 36 times last year) QB or a McCown brother, so give #94 credit. Mario was dialed in today and while he may be 2nd fiddle to EJ Manuel's game winning drive, he was the real star today. ---Funny how during the week, I happened to write my first anti-Stevie piece. It was pretty weird to say the least for me since he's always been a favorite here at the site. However, Stevie pretty much rewrote that piece with being able to handle adversity and rebound from last week's performance. Adversity is a great way to see what sort of character a person possesses and Stevie showed that he can rebound when the **** hits the fan. In sports, you don't get what you wish for, instead, you get what you work for and Stevie worked his ass off today. Stevie's 8 catch, 111-yard performance gives him his 4th 100-yard game in his last 8 contests. ---Don't look now, but the Bills defense looks pretty legit. In a span of two weeks, they have held their own against 2 QBs who have a proven track record. Sure, dumb asses can hack their way into deluding their accomplishments by saying this or that QB are on the downside or whatever, but I'd totally take those two performances any day of the week. And to think they are doing this without Byrd or Gilmore is pretty remarkable. Mike Pettine might be coaching his way to a head job by next year if he keeps this up. Final word: Yeah, it is 1:06am, so, I gotta split. Sorry for the not so thorough game recap. But after a game like this, words won't justify the emotions. So, why bother? Go Bills!
