Wide receiver Santana Moss dropped 15 pounds aiming to remain a starter at 33, free agent signees Pierre Garcon and Josh Morgan are sure to play a lot and the depth chart isn't settled after that.

Leonard Hankerson, a 2011 third-round pick, is expected to battle to be a regular once he's fully recovered from hip surgery and 2010 starter Anthony Armstrong and backups Terrence Austin and Brandon Banks still on hand, the Redskins moved 2011 fifth-rounder Niles Paul to tight end this spring.

"He's really doing a good job," coach Mike Shanahan said of the 6-foot-1, 235-pound Paul, who played well on special teams as a rookie but caught just two passes for 25 yards. "Usually the big transition for a wide receiver going to the tight end position is 'can he block?' We haven't put pads on yet, but he's done a good job getting in his stance and simulating as many blocking techniques as a tight end can do without pads on. Anytime you've got a tight end that's in that 4.5 range (who) can run like a wide receiver, the key is: can he block like a tight end? A lot of those guys that can run, can catch and have that speed aren't very good blockers. I think he'll be able to do both.”

The depth chart at tight end isn't any more settled. Fred Davis returns from a four-game suspension to end last season and Chris Cooley, who turns 30 before training camp and has played less than half of two of the past three seasons with injuries, remains a wild card.
