The Washington Redskins have promoted tight end Rob Myers and defensive lineman Doug Worthington from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, Chuck Carroll of Football News Now reports. Originally signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Utah State in 2009, Myers has bounced around the league with stints with the Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills and Indianapolis Colts before joining the Redskins' practice squad last month. Myers has yet to appear in an NFL game. Worthington was a 2010 seventh-round pick out of Ohio State by the Pittsburgh Steelers who split his rookie season on practice squads in Pittsburgh and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Waived by the Buccaneers in August, Worthington was claimed by the Redskins and has been on their practice squad since the start of the season.

Mike Shanahan: Rex Grossman not entirely to blame for flea-flicker pick
Washington Redskins quarterback Rex Grossman threw an interception on a failed flea-flicker on the first play of Sunday’s game against the Giants. But on Monday – 24 hours removed from Washington’s 23-10 victory – coach Mike Shanahan said all the blame shouldn’t fall on Grossman.
Grossman took the snap at his own 18-yard line and handed it off to running back Roy Helu,...
Quick hits: Roy Helu played hurt against the Giants
Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said rookie running back Roy Helu was injured (toe and leg) in the Giants game, but coaches didn’t realize how badly until they reviewed game tape and saw Helu’s diminished effectiveness.
Shanahan said cornerback Josh Wilson suffered a blow to the head along the sideline late in the game and was “a little woozy, a little dizzy.” Wilson...
Darrel Young’s first rushing TD comes against childhood team
Redskins fullback Darrel Young scored the first rushing touchdown of his career in Sunday’s 23-10 victory over the New York Giants, a six-yard run that gave Washington a 17-0 lead in the second quarter.
“It was an honor,” Young said. “I know my family’s watching and stuff like that. I wish they were on the sideline with me.”

Wrestling Fever Comes To Redskins Park
Earlier this week, a unique fan creation showed up at Redskins Park in the form of a Redskins-themed championship belt. And why not?
The belt comes to Ashburn from James Makle, a firefighter from Prince George’s County, who made the belt for himself a few years ago. As he stated in his accompanying letter, he was sending the letter to the team so that...
Brian Orakpo fighting double-teams
There are still two games remaining, but linebacker Brian Orakpo may see his sack numbers dip for the second year in a row. Orakpo had 11 as a rookie in 2009, 8.5 last year and has 7 through 14 games this season.
Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett said despite that stat, Orakpo is still improving as a football player.

Redskins ticket seller offers money-back guarantee
Monday, I pointed out that the marketplace for Redskins-Vikings tickets seems fairly soft.
Tuesday, I got another indication of that, when a reader sent me a link to this eBay listing:

Neild Brings Hess Trucking Joy To Fans
By now, many of you are familiar with Redskins nose tackle Chris Neild, and the nickname “Truck” that he acquired in the fifth grade.
Perhaps not surprisingly, trucks were a favorite toy of Neild’s growing up. Each Christmas he would thunder downstairs to find a new Hess truck under the tree. His sister even called him “Hess” from time to time, a nickname that was...
Week 16 Power Rankings Roundup
AP Image
It’s hard to believe that only a few short weeks ago, the Redskins media was considering the possibility of a 3-13 finish. It’s even crazier to consider that this team was once sitting at 3-1.
With each win and loss, the media has micro-analyzed the direction of this team, and we’re left with power rankings that reflect whatever the current mood may be. In the...
Redskins-Vikings ticket market looks soft
The Redskins will play their 2011 home finale on Christmas Eve. They will be playing for exactly nothing. Their opponents, the 2-12 Minnesota Vikings, will be playing for even less. Thousands and thousands of Redskins fans will have left town for the holidays, and the Vikings aren’t one of the visiting fan bases known for sparking an invasion.

Week 15 Fantasy Football Recap: Redskins vs. Giants
Washington Redskins – 23, New York Giants – 10
Not quite the shocker of the Packers-Chiefs game, but this one was a bit of a surprise in its own right. Rex Grossman (185 yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs) and the Redskins went into the New Meadowlands and crushed the Giants’ postseason hopes. Of course,Eli Manning’s (257 yards, 0 TDs, 3 INTs) implosion had a lot to do with that, as...
Washington Redskins Seize Lead and Never Let Go in 23-10 Victory Over Giants
The New York Giants may control their own destiny as far as the playoffs go, but the Redskins certainly controlled this game. Despite early game mistakes, they quickly seized the lead and never let go, dominating their division opponents for the second time this season.
(Antrel Rolle may want to re-think his math a little bit.)
The Good:
In the absence of Fred Davis, many players...
