Redskins C Will Montgomery Fined $10,000 For Kicking At Linval Joseph

Redskins center Will Montgomery said Friday he was fined $10,000 by the NFL for his role in an incident during Monday night’s game involving New York Giants defensive lineman Linval Joseph. Montgomery said he will appeal his fine. Joseph pulled one of Montgomery’s legs to try to remove the center from a pileup of players at the end of the third-quarter play on which Redskins tailback Alfred Morris lost a fumble. Montgomery kicked at Joseph with his other leg, and Joseph stepped near but not on Montgomery with Montgomery still on the ground. “I think I had to protect myself,” Montgomery said Friday. “The guy was dragging me across the ground and potentially twisting my ankle or whatever else. I’m not going to let a guy drag me across the ground. And I can’t push him, obviously, because I’m on the ground.
