A judge Wednesday granted sporting apparel giant Nike a temporary restraining order against Reebok that forces the latter to recall all new Tim Tebow jerseys it had sold to retailers. The order also requires Reebok to stop producing and selling the jerseys, CNBC reported. The move comes after Nike accused its top competitor of illegally marketing new Tebow jerseys despite Reebok's contract with the players union having already expired. Nike, who is set to take over the NFL apparel market from Reebok this season, filed the lawsuit Tuesday in the US District Court in New York, claiming its rival attempted to make a last ditch cash grab following Tebow's trade from Denver to the New York Jets last week. "We have filed a complaint relating to unauthorized use of Tim Tebow's name on New York Jets related apparel," Nike said in a statement Wednesday, before the restraining order was handed down. "Nike is authorized and licensed to use Tim Tebow's name on products. We have no further comment at this stage." According to CNBC, Reebok must have deals in place with both the NFL and the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) in order to manufacture official players' jerseys. The apparel company's contract with the NFLPA reportedly expired before the Jets completed the trade with Denver on March 22. Reebok's deal with the league does not technically expire until the end of March. Jets jerseys with Reebok logos and Tebow's name emblazoned on the back hit stores within a day of the extremely popular quarterback's trade to New York. Nike reportedly requested in its lawsuit that all Reebok-made Tebow Jets jerseys be removed from shelves and destroyed. Reebok has not commented on the lawsuit. The NFL announced in October 2010 that Nike had outbid Reebok for the rights to manufacture and market official NFL apparel, starting in 2012. The takeover ended a 10-year run by Reebok as the league's sole apparel licensee.

Tebow name stretches into horse racing

(Eds: APNewsNow. ) By RICHARD ROSENBLATT AP Sports Writer Tebow's a horse, too. Of course. In fact, there are at least six thoroughbreds listed by The Jockey Club carrying the Tebow name. They're all named for Tim Tebow, the New York Jets new backup quarterback who last season led Denver to the playoffs with an incredible string of comeback victories but was traded away...

Tebow wearing a green tie....nice touch

The New York Jets held a press conference today for their incoming backup quarterback Tim Tebow. If you have been following this story at all, you know that the media swine at ESPN have approximately 3 issues with my opening sentence.   Lets dispel them all:   1. Tim Tebow. The media has darn near exploded in recent weeks bashing the Jets newest acquisition. Why pick up such...

Tim Tebow to the Jets: Fantasy Impact

Tim Tebow has officially joined the New York Jets after the trade talks were revived. Mark Sanchez is a capable QB but has not been given the requisite weapons or aerial playcaller to really show off his talent. Stuck with troublesome or aging wideouts for most of his career, his only consistent option has been Dustin Keller. An overrated run game only helped to complicate matters...

Tim Tebow was “excited” to get to his press conference for the New York Jets. Jay Leno and The Tonight Show show Tebow parting the traffic as if he was Jesus parting the Red Sea.

A look at a crazy NFL offseason

There is NO offseason for the NFL. There were so many things that happened just in the past week or so: Peyton Manning finally settled on a team. TOJ 12 Pack: Under The Radar New York Jets

A quick hitting 12 pack for your Friday afternoon, focusing on twelve New York Jets who will be critical to the team’s success in 2012 but aren’t receiving the same media adoration of Tim Tebow or media scorn of Mark Sanchez and Santonio Holmes. 1. Giants owner John Mara takes a jab at the Jets for Tim Tebow press conference

The Jets held their introductory press conference for Tim Tebow on Monday (which may better be known for Tebow letting everybody know just how gosh darned excited he is). It was a bit of a curious spectacle and seemed a bit overzealous, given that Tebow is brought in to be a back-up rather that being given the starting gig right off the bat. That’s what Giants owner John Mara...

The Jetbow Unveiled: A 3.5-pound, $22.22 Masterpiece

When it comes to the kitchen, I am a developing Italian quarterback. Mel Kiper Jr's scouting report indicates that a strength in my game is sandwiches. Throughout my college career, I combined the salty goodness of potato chips and the sweet sensation of PB&J with pinpoint accuracy and fluidity. I have united a locker room full of chicken nuggets and mac-and-cheese upon...
