Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins.
Bush injured his left knee last week at Arizona, returned to practice on a limited basis Friday and was listed at that point as questionable.
But a decision was made to keep Bush out for this week and try to get him closer to full strength for next Sunday's game against division rival Chicago.
Bush has a reputation for being injury prone going back to his first five years in the NFL with New Orleans. But this is only the second game he's missed since the start of the 2011 season. He played in 31 of 32 games over the last two years with Miami.
Without Bush, the Lions will have to rely more onbackup running backsJoique Bell, rookie Theo Riddick and Mikel Leshoure. Leshoure, the starting running back last year,is active for the first time this season.
