First Round selections tend to be hit or miss in today's NFL. There is incredible pressure that comes with playing football at this level, compounded by the inference that the higher a player is selected, the more is expected very early... teams expect players to come in and perform right away. And players can either make it big or bust like a balloon; just look back at the 1999...
The battle between Aqib Talib and Steve Smith was hyped for a reason.
Talib, who has been sidelined for the past three weeks with a lingering hip injury, returned to the gridiron on Sunday and he returned with a vengeance.
Matching up with Carolina’s wide receiver, the two wasted no time getting reacquainted as the New England cornerback showed no interest in letting go of Smith’s...
Great news for the Patriots, as it appears likely that Aqib Talib will play on Monday night against the Carolina Panthers.
Talib has been sidelined since Week 6, when the Pats shutdown cornerback suffered a hip flexor injury. Up until that point, Talib was making a case for being the best cornerback in the entire league.
As the Patriots...
Steve Smith had a great message for Aqib Talib after the Carolina Panthers beat the New England Patriots 24-20 on Monday night. NFL Network reporter Albert Breer caught up with Smith for an interview as the receiver was walking off the field. Breer asked him what happened between him and Talib (the two got into […]
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith and New England Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib both have a history of getting into fights over the course of their NFL careers. Their feud was rekindled from when Talib faced Smith twice a year as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2008-12) on Monday night when the Panthers clashed with the Patriots in Charlotte. Smith made his second...
Steve Smith brought a snappy one-liner directed at Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib after the Panthers defeated the Pats in controversial fashion on Monday night, and it seems to be catching on.
Smith and Talib spent the majority of the game jawing at one another, and Smith showed his dominance early, smoking Talib on a number of receptions. Smith's strong play led to sloppy,...
One of the key match ups that was highlighted in the build up to this game was Aqib Talib vs. Steve Smith. And it was fiesty, to say the least (see the image below), leading me to wonder if one or both would be ejected. And the scuffles early resulted in Talib being benched for a couple of plays.Well, flared tempers seemed to favor Steve Smith early. After Talib broke up the first...
Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib and running back Shane Vereen are active for Monday night's game against the Carolina Panthers.
Talib missed the past three games with a hip injury. Vereen was activated from the short-term injured reserve before the game after suffering a broken wrist in New England's season-opening victory against Buffalo.
Inactive for the Patriots are running...
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith and New England Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib got in each other’s faces all night and had to be separated quite often. After the game, Steve Smith had some advice for Talib, telling him to “ice up.”
It’s really too bad these two teams don’t get to play again the rest of the year.

If the main event on Monday night Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots, the co-main event was Aqib Talib vs. Steve Smith. The Panthers star receiver and Patriots star cornerback went after it throughout the first half. On the Panthers’ touchdown drive in the first quarter, Smith caught two passes for 47 yards. The Patriots and Panthers will both be tested this weekend.
Carolina’s best win came last week against the 49ers and New England’s most-impressive victory came against the team that just toppled San Francisco in the final seconds this week, the Saints. The Patriots and Panthers have not won another game against a team with a winning record.
A win from either team will prove a...
As expected the Patriots get Shane Vereen and Aqib Talib back tonight. Two huge boosts to an offense that's largely struggled this year, and a defense that's struggled the past few weeks.

(via Getty Image)The Sean Taylor Memorial Meast for Week 11 is the Broncos offensive line, which permitted only two pressures and no sacks to a Chiefs defense that came into the weekend with a league-leading 36 sacks. It was tempting to go with Clete Blakeman solely for the purpose of trolling New England fans, but we must remember not to jump the gun on Patriots Schadenfreude Day...
