Denver Broncos wide receiver Carlos Henderson was arrested in Louisiana on possession of marijuana Sunday. In Louisiana, the charges include possession of a controlled substance, as that state’s drug laws are about as backwards as Marcus Williams was in Sunday’s Saints playoff loss to Minnesota.

Henderson, who plays in a state where marijuana is legal for recreational use, should be a bit more aware of his surroundings. After all, he played college ball at Louisiana Tech.

But we digress.

According to 9 News in Denver, an officer noticed a strong marijuana smell in a car Henderson was a passenger in. Henderson admitted to smoking earlier in the day, but denied that he had smoked in the car. That’s when the officer found a water bottle with a marijuana cigarette near the passenger seat. Upon examination of Henderson, the officer noted that he had “thick green residue” on his tongue.

Allegedly, Henderson had tried to eat some of the marijuana before being pulled over.

Normally we would say well played. But man, you had joint in the car.

The Broncos released a statement noting that they were aware of the situation, nothing more. While marijuana is legal in Colorado, it’s still a banned substance under the NFL drug policy. This could very well lead to discipline from the league. And let us not forget the hot water Henderson might be in when it comes to the lawmen in Louisiana.
