According to Michael Gehlken NBC San Diego, the Chargers want wide receiver Vincent Jackson to remain in San Diego, but they don’t want to place the franchise tag on him, since they would then owe him $13.7 million for one season.
Right now the Chargers simply have too many other needs to pay Jackson the money he’d command in free agency as well. This will likely lead to him hitting the open market and signing with another team.
