PLAYERS: Barry Church
TEAMS: Dallas Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys safety Barry Church would be wise to stay away from the sweets after a recent visit to the dentist. But he just can't say no to a recent gift. Church needed a root canal earlier this week after chipping his tooth on a Jolly Rancher. The cherry-flavored piece of candy forced him to miss practice at Cowboys training camp on Monday. Following the procedure, Church said, "No more Jolly RanchersI've got to stick to the soft stuff." Something soft came calling. PEEPS, the marshmallow candies most commonly sold during Easter, has reached out to Church, according to ESPNDallas.com After hearing about Church's tooth, PEEPS reportedly gave him a sweet deal. "So here is our sweet offer: Since we produce everyone's favorite combination of sweet colored sugar and fluffy marshmallows, PEEPS Brand would like to provide you with a season's worth assortment of PEEPS, plenty of soft, marshmallowy goodness that will satisfy your sweet tooth and keep your dental procedures to a minimum. We will send you a wide array of flavors and shapes to carry you and your teammates through the football season." "I'll definitely take the year's supply of PEEPS," Church told ESPN Dallas. "It's a good candy. I'll be able to share the wealth with everybody." Despite his earlier statement of "no more Jolly Ranchers," Church says it is just too good to give up forever. "I'm not going to swear off them, because they're a really tasty candy," he told ESPN Dallas. "I'm definitely probably going to have one or two of them in the future, but I'm going to try to hold back on them."

Through the years, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and former Oakland Raiders owner, the late Al Davis, let their pride get in the way of running successful and respected franchises. Dez Bryant: LeBron James would be a ‘beast’ in NFL

LeBron James has made a pretty nice career for himself, winning back-to-back NBA championships and collecting four regular-season MVPs. But would the Miami Heat superstar be as dominant if he took his talents to the NFL? Dez Bryant certainly thinks so. In a discussion with ESPNDallas.com, the Dallas Cowboys' mercurial receiver said the 6-foot-8, 250 pound James would...

DeMarcus Ware saving his legs during training camp

Going into his ninth NFL season, DeMarcus Ware is doing anything he can to make sure he stays healthy during training camp, even if that means not walking, unless he absolutely has to. Ware has been spotted zipping around the Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, Calif. this summer on a Segway, the same two-wheeled device that are used by mall cops around the nation. He takes it from...

Dez Bryant to sue Twitter account that made up groupie story?

While many athletes ignore rumors about them to avoid giving phony stories credibility, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant decided to take one straight on. Someone running a now-deleted Twitter account called “NFL_NBA_Groupie” posted photos on Twitter of an alleged text conversation they had with Bryant. The conversation included raunchy talks about urination and strap-ons. [...]

Cowboys using Hall of Fame game to work out kinks

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones spent a large portion of the offseason talking about his team's playcalling situation and its highly paid quarterback. He also brought in Monte Kiffin and Rod Marinelli to revamp a defense that has annually been at bottom of the league in takeaways. It will be impossible to make any evaluations on those decisions after Sunday's Hall of Fame game...

Barry Church vs The Jolly Rancher

Apparently, the “Jolly Rancher” candy was not so jolly to Cowboys safety Barry Church. I guess you could say Church had to learn the “hard” way after chipping his tooth on a strawberry flavored Jolly Rancher. Church reported some small pains on and off for a couple of weeks after the incident, and then the pain started to mount. On Monday, Church had to go to the dentist...

Cowboys scrambling as injuries decimate OL

The Dallas Cowboys are suddenly so thin at offensive line, they grabbed a player who lives 10 minutes from training camp in California. Good thing they at least had James Nelson in rookie camp in May, even if they chose not to sign him. The Cowboys lost a pair of guards in starter Nate Livings and backup Kevin Kowalski during their second week of camp. Livings is out at least two...

Dallas Cowboys Fan Declares Allegiance With HUGE Tattoo

Having never gotten a tattoo I don't know exactly what drives people to get them. A lot of people I do know with them got them in honor of something like a fallen friend, the name of the kid(s), etc. Many have also done so to show the love they have of their favorite sports team. If the size of the tattoo is supposed to say anything (i.e. how much the person loves something...
