According to different league sources, Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano will leave the team for the foreseeable future after being diagnosed with leukemia.
The Indianapolis Star's Bob Kravitz was the first to report of Pagano's illness, tweeting, "Colts coach Chuck Pagano has been diagnosed with a "serious'' illness and will miss the next few games, at least. Arians will be interim."
ESPN's Chris Mortensen later confirmed that the illness in question is leukemia, on his Twitter, saying, "The "serious illness" that has hospitalized #Colts coach Chuck Pagano, as has been reported by Indianapolis Star, is leukemia, per sources."
He later tweeted, "Pagano's leukemia is considered "very treatable" but he is in isolation at Indianapolis hospital during this treatment."
Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians will be the interim head coach while Pagano is on medical leave. It is also reported that Pagano will be out for a minimum of six weeks, but plans on returning as the Colts head coach.
