Dan Rooney is coming home for good.
Timothy McNulty of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting on Thursday that Rooney will resign as U.S. ambassador to Ireland on Friday after serving three plus years in Dublin. The move has been expected to be coming for some time now.
The 80-year-old Steelers chairman emeritus returned to the US just last week after learning about the sudden of his daughter Rita Rooney Conway which forced him to be unavailable to assist US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on her visit to Dublin.

What exactly is the mindset of the 2012 Pittsburgh Steelers, now with just 3 games left on the schedule and the playoffs getting closer by the day? Are they truly a confident team like we always hear them talk about, or is there some doubt in the locker room with their identity and what they are capable of? It would be hard to blame them if there are doubts about the game plan every...
That ‘must-win’ game the Pittsburgh Steelers already knew they had in Dallas just got bigger if there is such a possibility. With the Cincinnati Bengals’ win over Philadelphia last night, the Steelers now face the prospect of ‘having’ to win to get the advantage back going into next week’s huge tilt against the Bengals in Heinz Field. When you put things in perspective...
The Pittsburgh Steelers started their practice preparations on Wednesday for their Sunday road game against the Dallas Cowboys and the first injury report is now out.
As expected, cornerback Ike Taylor (ankle), tackle Mike Adams (ankle), and guard Willie Colon (knee) did not practice and all three have already been ruled out for the game. With Colon out, Ramon Foster will shift...
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Byron Leftwich is not on the injury report this week for the first time since he injured his ribs in the 13-10 loss the Baltimore Ravens back in Week 11. Although he has apparently returned to full health he has not returned to his spot on the quarterback depth chart as Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports via Twitter that Charlie Batch...
As the veteran member of the Pittsburgh Steelers' otherwise-youthful cornerbacks, Ike Taylor enjoys being among the first- and second-year players at his position meetings.
''I feel like they keep my young,'' Taylor said. ''Especially with the new young music coming up, the clothes, shoes, all that kind of stuff.''
This week, it's much more...
The Pittsburgh Steelers wrapped up their practice preparations on Friday for their Sunday road game against the Dallas Cowboys and the Friday injury report is now out.
Pretty much as expected, cornerback Cortez Allen (groin) did not practice on Friday and he was listed as doubtful as a result. Allen injured his groin last week in the loss to the San Diego Chargers and is expected...
The Pittsburgh Steelers are once again going to be without the services of cornerback Ike Taylor on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys as he will miss his second consecutive game with a fractured right ankle suffered early in the win against the Baltimore Ravens back in Week 13.
Taylor was asked on Wednesday how the rehab is going.
"Right now it's going really well. The...
The Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the San Diego Chargers Sunday 34-24 and below are my first half notes from the game with the second half notes to follow soon.
The quick screen to Mike Wallace on the first play was an excellent call to get Ben Roethlisberger an easy first throw and Wallace involved in the game early. I called for such a thing in my pregame 7 keys article as well...
Below are the defensive player play counts and the participation chart for the Pittsburgh Steelers week 14 loss to the San Diego Chargers. We also are including down, time of play and yards gained to better help you identify the play.
The Steelers were in the nickel for 28 plays in this game and you can see that once again Curtis Brown played outside on those snaps while Cortez...
Below are the offensive player play counts and participation chart for the Pittsburgh Steelers week 14 loss to the San Diego Chargers at Heinz Field.
The Steelers used their 11 personnel grouping featuring 3 wide receivers quite a bit in this game and it was obviously due to being way behind. Plaxico Burress saw 7 snaps in the game with 4 times being part of a...
The Pittsburgh Steelers dressed five wide receivers last week against the San Diego Chargers for the first time this season as Jerricho Cotchery was able to return to action after missing the previous two games with busted ribs, but that might not happen this week against the Dallas Cowboys thanks to injuries at other positions.
Head coach Mike Tomlin was asked during his press...

If they can win week 16 against the Bengals, they should still be in the playoffs regardless, even after a loss to the Chargers at home. The Bengals really missed a chance at home for Dallas this week. I think they get that one and while they’re at it, I think they win...
Below is the week 13 offensive line breakdown for the Pittsburgh Steelers loss to the San Diego Chargers this past Sunday.
