According to Mike Garafolo of USA Today Sports, the Miami Dolphins are “mounting a charge” to re-sign left tackle Jake Long after he recently left St. Louis without a deal. The team that drafted Long No. 1 overall in 2008 is mounting a charge to retain their left tackle, according to a person informed of the negotiations between the sides. The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity, said general manager Jeff Ireland and his team have been in communication with Long on Friday morning and are trying to bridge the gap they’ve had in previous negotiations. The person said Long was demanding more than the Cleveland Browns gave Joe Thomas ($84 million over seven years) in 2011 but has since come down in his requests. At one point it looked like Long was as good as gone in Miami, but it sounds like there’s a good chance he ends up staying with the Dolphins.     Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })();

Dolphins free agent signings rest on the play of Ryan Tannehill

Now that most of the big names are off the market, its safe to say the Miami Dolphins have accomplished their main goal in free agency, to equipt second year quarterback Ryan Tannehill with better options in the passing game. After the Dolphins recieving core combined for only three touchdowns in 2012, it was evident that major changes were coming and that's exactly what took...

What will Jeff Ireland's next move be ?

  The Dolphins started this season with a roster which falls quite short of being a Super Bowl contender but if improved could become a player in the AFC playoff picture. Jeff Ireland knew this free agency was probably his last shot at redemption and certainly did not hold back in terms of making a splash. The Dolphins tackled their biggest need adding a speedy playmaker...

Dolphins throwing money at problems

The Miami Dolphins have a huge problem that should have been solved by this time last year. Now, that problem is becoming a huge issue. The problem I'm speaking of is, of course, general manager Jeff Ireland. The Dolphins' GM should have been fired over a year ago, but the team gave him one more chance to turn the ship around. The selection of Ryan Tannehill is paying off...
