While saying that he believes the Washington Redskins will “take good care” of Robert Griffin III, renowned orthopedist James Andrews has admitted to an ESPN that he has concerns over the way in which the team will use the quarterback. Griffin is coming back from reconstructive knee surgery performed by Andrews this offseason. Andrews has cleared Griffin to play and did not condemn the Redskins, ESPN reports, but Andrews does appear to be worried about the style of offense head coach Mike Shanahan and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan have designed for Griffin. An abundance of read-options and designed runs could expose Griffin to a greater risk of injury, the ESPN article implies, although the Redskins claim Griffin is just as susceptible to injury as a pocket passer.
