Wednesday afternoon the reasonably accurate Yahoo sports reporter Jason Cole suggested the Atlanta Falcons may make a run at a Jets player.       DON'T NAVIGATE AWAY, IT WAS REVIS!   More on Revis potentially ending in Atlanta, and absolutely nothing on Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez, after the jump.   Don’t be surprised if Atlanta, which came tantalizingly close to beating the 49ers in the NFC championship game this year, makes a run at Revis. I wanted to ignore the report at first.  It sounded a bit like guessing as opposed to reporting.  Even a guesstimate.  Very AJC-ish.  Atlanta could use help at corner.  They have made big moves.  Maybe one player change could get them to the Super Bowl.  Makes sense, but where would Atlanta possibly get the cap space to even consider Darrell Revis?   I suppose they could come up with a few cuts to clear about $16 million in cap space.  These were huge moves and I would bet Atlanta will again use up all their available cap space.  That leaves us with money to extend a few free agents, potentially Matt Ryan, and maybe bringing in Revis Island.  Now the report is making some sense.   Revis may only be a peninsula at this point, coming off an ACL tear that will likely zap his explosiveness for the year.  He is expected to cost at least one 1st round pick along with a Joe Flacco-type contract.  Revis will not be a bargain for anyone but he has good odds to come back as the best cornerback in the league, if not in 2013 then 2014.   We saw first hand the Jets defense fall apart when they could not rely on Revis and it is hard not to realize that Revis is one of those few players who can elevate an entire side of the ball.   The Falcons defense has been, at best, spotty.  Throw that together with a passive run game and you can understand a team can watch a 3rd quarter lead disappear.  At the very least Atlanta needs more playmakers on the defense, not role players and overpaid free agent busts.   Should the Falcons go after Revis or will his price be too high?
