Mike Florio Pro Football Talk reports that free agent S Kerry Rhodes hasn’t generated any buzz in recent weeks, despite the fact that NFL teams have been working out defensive backs.
This comes just a day after Deadspin’s Drew Magary cited Florio as a source in an article that mentioned that Rhodes could be getting blackballed by NFL teams after rumors surfaced of him possibly being gay this offseason.
Rhodes, 31, actually put together a very solid season for the Cardinals last year and there are a number of teams that could use some help at safety. Last year, Rhodes tallied 67 tackles, 11 pass breakups, and four interceptions and was rated as the No. 4 safety in the league by Pro Football Focus.
It’s not like he’s over the hill or coming off of a downswing in terms of production or anything. Rhodes could probably help a number of teams and would most likely require only a minimum salary.
