Report Indicates Eagles to Replace Castillo with Spagnulo at Season’s End

Reports have surfaced from multiple outlets saying that the Philadelphia Eagles will replace defensive coordinator Juan Castillo at the end of the season with Steve Spagnulo. Spagnulo is currently the head coach of the St. Louis Rams, but the San Diego Union Tribune reports that he will be fired at season’s end, and will likely return to Philadelphia to replace Castillo. Spagnulo worked under Jim Johnson as a defensive assistant for the Eagles from 1999-2007. Spagnulo then went on to serve as defensive coordinator of the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants in 2007. Spagnulo favors a blitz heavy defense, much like that of his mentor, Johnson. Andy Reid, head coach of the Philadphia Eagles, promoted offensive line coach Juan Castillo to defensive coordinator this past offseason.
