After spending three years as the President of the Cleveland Browns, Mike Holmgren reportedly has serious interest in coaching the Dallas Cowboys if the job opens (Credit: AP Photo) Mike Holmgren spent three years as the Cleveland Browns general manager. On October 16,  Browns owner Jimmy Haslam announced that Holmgren will not be returning with the team following the 2012 season. During his tenure with the Browns, Holmgren continually told reporters that he had no interest in coaching. Maybe, he had no interest in coaching the Browns. According to Jason La Canfora, Holmgren has “serious interest” in coaching the Dallas Cowboys if the job opens. Sources close to Holmgren told La Canfora he’s attracted to the role “given the competitiveness of the roster, the skill players present, and his long relationship with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.” Holmgren and Jones worked together for a decade-plus on the NFL’s Competition Committee, but there’s no indication the Cowboys have any interest in the former Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks coach. La Canfora reported that Holmgren is looking for a “perfect scenario,” and will retire if it doesn’t materialize.
