Found March 06, 2013 on Pro Football Zone:
It was reportedly earlier today that Wes Welker will test the free agent market before possibly re-signing with the Patriots. According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, the Patriots are the favorites to sign Welker. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Pats remain the favorite to retain Welker.  That said, one or two teams could intervene. “It’s close,” the source explained. I think Welker is going to be unhappy with what the free agent market holds for him and he’ll end up staying with the Pats.     Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI...

Report: Wes Welker Waiting for Free Agency to Open, Won’t Sign With Patriots Until Testing Market

Wes Welker sees your move, Patriots, and he’s calling your bluff. While the Patriots and Welker appeared to be close to making an agreement on a new deal in recent days, the situation has suddenly become much more complicated. First came the news that Welker was none too pleased with how the Patriots treated him last season, and that he might be willing to test the free-agent market...

Back To Basics: New England Patriots Can Win, Even Thrive, Without Wes Welker

Wes Welker is destined for free agency and Patriots fans wonder if the team can live without the record-setting slot man. The reality is that the Patriots can not only live without Welker, they can thrive without Welker.

Report: Wes Welker still Upset about early Season Demotion

After putting up yet another 100 catch season for the New England Patriots, one would think that Welker is happy with the team and that the franchise is prepared to make him a long-term offer that he can’t refuse. But the reality of the situation remains that Welker is unsigned, and reportedly isn’t all that happy with the team for the way he was treated earlier this season...

Wes Welker To Test Free Agency

The million question is how much of Welker’s success is based of him and how much of it is based off Tom Brady. I don’t care how great of a Wide Receiver you are, it helps having a Hall of Fame quarterback throwing you the ball, but I think people aski underrate Welker’s talent. He isn’t a perfect fit for every team, but there are several teams I think he would fit in nicely...

Have The Patriots Lost All Hope Of Resigning Wes Welker? There’s Talk Of A Replacement Already.

The New England Patriots appear ready to lose Wes Welker. There is already talk around the Web about who his replacement is going to be. Can they be seriously thinking of just letting Welker walk right off the team and losing the chemistry him and Tom Brady have? The Patriots must not be very good at the bargaining table. There should be some way to cut a deal that would make both...

Wes Welker Harboring A “Mild Disdain” For The Patriots?

Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports reports that WR Wes Welker has a “somewhat mild disdain for the Patriots right now.” Welker was reportedly “miffed” by the Patriots decision to play Julian Edelman over him in the opening game of the season. Another issue for Welker is the belief that had Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski not gotten hurt last year, Welker may have seen a reduced...

Patriots don’t use the franchise tag

According to Albert Breer of the NFL Network, the New England Patriots have decided not to use the franchise tag this year. The Patriots decided against using the franchise tag, I’m told. So Vollmer, Welker and Talib will be UFAs if unsigned by 3/12. — Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) March 4, 2013 Even though the Patriots won’t use the tag, they’ll continue to negotiate on extending...

Vote: Do You Agree With the Patriots’ Decision Not to Use the Franchise Tag?

For four consecutive seasons the Patriots made use of the franchise tag, but as of Monday that streak has been snapped. The Patriots declined to place the franchise tag on any of their players, meaning that the speculated-upon names — Wes Welker, Aqib Talib and Sebastian Vollmer — are all set to hit free agency. Likewise, the team’s odds of retaining any of those players varies...

Wes Welker’s Potential Departure From Patriots Could Bring Danny Amendola, Greg Jennings to New England (Podcast)

It seems there’s only one position on Patriots fans minds right now: wide receiver. Patriots faithful is agonizing over slot receivers, outside receivers, deep threat receivers, Wes Welker, Brandon Lloyd, Danny Amendola and countless other options. Whether Welker is back in a Patriots uniform next year or not, New England will no doubt look to acquire a few outside targets for...

Report: Patriots looking at Amendola

The Patriots chose not to franchise Wes Welker (or anyone, for that matter) on Monday, but that doesnt mean they dont have a plan at slot receiver if Welker is not a Patriot next season. According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, the Pats have a replacement in mind in Danny Amendola. Florio, who was a guest on the Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday morning, hinted that the Pats plan...

In case you didn't know, the Patriots are interested in Danny Amendola

Not really any sudden or surprising news here, but the possibility of free agent WR Danny Amendola becoming a New England Patriot seem more and more likely. So this has been considered almost a gimme for a while now, but with Wes Welker deciding to test the market, Amendola could be a factor in Welker's contract negotiations. Writer Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com says that...
