The Victory Formation:
I don’t think it is going too far to call the quarterback the most important position on the football field. Sure, there have been a handful of teams that found success with average players under center, but most typically, the best teams have the best QBs. So you would think that a team that has an unsettled QB situation has a big decision to make. Which is why New York Jets GM John Idzik said that it isn’t just the head coach’s decision on whether Mark Sanchez or rookie Geno Smith will be the man, a real indictment of whose team this is. This isn’t the way that Rex Ryan sees it, and he is blaming the media for making it bigger than it is. Via Pro Football Talk “I think you guys are making a mountain out of a mole hill to be honest with you because ever since I’ve been here, this is my fifth year here, not one decision has ever been made by one man, not one decision,” Ryan said. “And that’s whether it’s who’s up, who’s active, who’s this player, who’s going to be the starter at this and this, who we draft, [it has] [...]
BEST OF MAXIM
THAT AIN'T GOOD
New York Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith reportedly looked out of breath towards the end of the team's training camp practice on Monday.
LOSING, THEN BOOZING
Rex Ryan took a picture with a Jets fan this weekend, which normally wouldn’t be a big deal because I’m assuming he does so quite a bit. But this wasn’t just any ordinary Jets fan, this was a Jets fan wearing a shirt that confesses “This Team Makes Me Drink.” And judging by the rosiness of those cheeks, it makes that fan drink a lot. Can’t really blame him, I’d probably...
Rex Ryan is trying to diffuse any potential rift between him and new Jets general manager John Idzik.
"I think you guys are making a mountain out of a molehill, to be honest with you," Ryan told ESPN a day after Idzik refused to say Ryan would have final say in naming a starting quarterback. "Because ever since I've been here, this is my fifth year here, not one...
Reports from the New York Jets aren’t offering any comfort for the already hopeless Jets fans. After reporting to camp last Thursday, July 25th, it was noted that 2nd round draft pick, QB Geno Smith’s performance did not impress anyone.
According to CBS Sports, NFL Network Analyst, Brian Baldinger, had a very harsh assessment of Smith’s conditioning saying:
“He looked good...
The media would like to know who’s going to start at quarterback for the New York Jets, but Rex Ryan is in no hurry to name one.
A day after Jets GM John Idzik proclaimed that he would have some say in who starts at quarterback for the Jets, Ryan got on the defensive, and accused the media of making much out of nothing.
“I think you guys are making a mountain out of a mole...
After three months of being questioned about a much-hyped quarterback competition that hadn’t even started yet Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith finally got on the field Friday for the first practice of Jets training camp and got to provide some answers — positive ones apparently.
Sanchez worked with the first team as expected saying he isn’t even considering the possibility of...
New York Jets coach Rex Ryan looks like he could not be happier taking a picture with a Jets fan whose shirt reads: "This team makes me drink."
Braylon Edwards believes the Jets’ quarterback competition is going to be close and Mark Sanchez can’t make mistakes as he faces off with rookie Geno Smith.
“It’s going to be a battle,” Edwards said, via ESPNNewYork.com. “Mark can’t make mistakes like he has in the past. Things have to be legit with Mark for him to be the starter because he has a legit guy knocking...
Braylon Edwards is back for his third tour of duty with the New York Jets, but it’s the same old story as usual. The Jets have no true play makers on the outside, and Mark Sanchez is a question at quarterback.
Edwards told reporters at Jets camp that Sanchez has a battle on his hands with Geno Smith, and that Sanchez “can’t make mistakes like he has in the past.”
Rex Ryan has a prediction: If the New York Jets can draft South Carolina star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, he won't be the coach.
Ryan, considered by many to be in a make-or-break season, delivered a gem when asked Saturday how much of his daily discussions with general manager John Idzik involve looking beyond this season.
''It's safe to say I won't be here...
It’s rough being the player that replaces a legend, yet those are exactly the shoes Milliner will walk in, as he tries to replace the consensus top cornerback in all of football.
After Darrelle Revis was traded to the Buccaneers, the Jets used the 9th overall pick in the draft, to selected the extremely talented Milliner out of Alabama.
Milliner will face a ton of pressure being...
Jason will be providing today's update, as he was at TC, himself.
Unlike yesterday, today was a beautiful day in Cortland NY, and a great day to be at Jets training camp.
Geno Smith continued to practice with the ones today, and hit Jeff Cumberland on a 30 yard out route. He continues to impress with his pocket presence, but seemed a bit hesitant at times looking for...
Don't worry -- this doesn't mean a butt fumble will never happen again. It just means Mark Sanchez won't be taken down by the same rear end that felled him last Thanksgiving.
Jets guard Brandon Moore is retiring from the NFL , Adam Caplan reports.
Moore played 144 games in his career, starting 137 in a row. But his most-remembered moment will not be the consistent protection...
