With a disgruntled Tim Tebow all but certain to be sent packing, and Mark Sanchez possibly soon to follow, the Jets will head into the offseason searching for a quarterback.

It seems they have someone in mind.

Team sources tell the New York Daily News that head coach Rex Ryan "loves" Michael Vick and would be open to bringing him to the Big Apple.

“Bring it on,” one source said about signing Vick if he becomes available. “He was hit too many times (behind a subpar offensive line) the last two years."

The unnamed source -- a common theme this year for Gang Green -- added that the "X-Factor" to land Vick may be Ryan, who's "always had an affinity" for the soon-to-be former Eagle and might be desperate to buy himself another year on the job.

Expected to be released after the season, Vick is indeed interested in making the short trek up I-95, provided Sanchez is out of the picture and he's guaranteed the starting job.

Ideally, the Jets would trade Sanchez and eat the cap hit from his ridiculously structured contract, making way for the 32-year-old Vick. Earlier reports stated that New York will attempt to find a trade partner for the former No. 5 overall pick.

It will be a difficult -- if not impossible -- task, however.

Another team would have to dole out roughly $3 million for Sanchez, who leads the NFL with 50 turnovers in his last 30 games and has shown absolutely no growth at the position.

That's not to say Vick doesn't turn the ball over, but he's at least proved he can be a superstar this level. You'd be hard-pressed to say the same about Sanchez -- with a straight face, anyway.

Above all else, it's become abundantly clear that the Sanchez era is over, the Greg McElroy era will be short-lived, and the franchise could soon recapture the spotlight with another splash signing.

The circus is alive and well.
