The new age of quarterbacks is leading to an exciting style of play, but it’s also dangerous. RG3 is starting to learn that running recklessly could be more detrimental than good. Quarterbacks have the option to slide, but the young quarterbacks coming out of college spread offenses are programmed for the signal caller to run. RG3 took a hit to his knee from Haloti Ngata on a run out of the pocket, and maybe if he was more inclined to protect himself, he could keep the damage to a limit. It’s a learning curve many mobile quarterbacks have had to adjust, Steve Young, Donovan McNabb, and Michael Vick as a few examples, with varying degrees of success, RG3 talked about the hazards of being a new age quarterback. “The injury has shown me a lot – just from a quarterback perspective,” Griffin told reporters.  “This game is not easy, but [the injury] did show me some things I can do to make the game easier for myself, easier on my body.  Ironically, I’ve done a better job of protecting myself since the injury – sliding, getting down, getting all the possible yards I can and getting out of bounds.  Sometimes, things have to happen like that for you to really, really grasp that.  It’s shown me a lot.  I don’t think I’ve ever rushed for 10 yards a carry in a game and I did that in this past game” according to Mike Florio of profootballtalkweekly.com.   var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
