No Guts, No Glory:
Back when all of Washington DC was excited at the potential of what a Washington Redskins squad led by Robert Griffin III could be, Donovan McNabb was not. He even went as far as to say that his former coach Mike Shanahan would eventually turn Griffin into a bust.
Fast forward a full season later and it’s apparent that all of Washington DC was right and McNabb was wrong. But of course, McNabb isn’t acknowledging that he was wrong. Instead he extended an invitation to Griffin to have a father-son meeting with the young Redskins camp because in his eyes, Griffin should want McNabb to mentor him.
Well, it turns out that Griffin doesn’t want McNabb as a mentor and he said as much in an interview with GQ recently.
“I don’t think Donovan is an idiot by any means,” he told me. “But right now, it’s probably best we don’t talk.”
This quote is “interesting” to say the least. Let’s analyze it, shall we?

BEST OF MAXIM
Donovan McNabb has tried to interject himself into RG3′s inner circle. McNabb says he is just looking out for RG3′s best interests, while others feel there is some jealousy and bitterness in McNabb’s comments.
Whatever the case when the subject was brought up in a GQ interview with RG3 (RG3 talks a lot), here is what Griffin had to say courtesy of No Guts, No Glory.
This has gotten silly at this point.
RG3 in GQ said he didn’t want to speak to McNabb and now McNabb has fired back.
“I’m just trying to help him, but clearly the young generation think they have all the answers,” McNabb said. “And he’s going through a little turmoil right now of trying to get out on the field. And it’s unfortunate, but that’s where we’re at right...
Tweet I would lead this post off by saying that Donovan McNabb has a reputation of being outspoken, but that would be far from accurate. But ever since he was forced to retire at 36 and pick up a gig as a football analyst because no team wanted him, McNabb has made a habit of […]
Well, well, well. This is quickly getting quite interesting.
On Tuesday, we brought you comments from Robert Griffin III that sounded one way, but were clearly meant in another. Those comments, if you recall, centered around Griffin sharing that he doesn’t think Donovan McNabb is an idiot, when he clearly does, and that it’s best that the two don’t talk.
A bit later, McNabb...
Back in May, former Eagles/Redskins QB and current NFL Network analyst Donovan McNabb told the Washington Post that RGIII was doing “too much right now.” McNabb asked to sit down with RG’s II & III but was denied. Apparently McNabb wanted to bequeath his wisdom on how a starting, high-profile, quarterback should conduct himself.
Featured in September’s issue of GQ...
This Donovan McNabb – Robert Griffin III drama is pretty elaborate and unnecessary for two guys who have never met one another. Several months ago, McNabb gave what appeared to be unsolicited advice to Griffin, who didn’t seem to care […]
I have an idea for a new reality show - Athletes Turned Analysts Acting Like Petty Teenagers.
In response to RGIII's not wanting to talk to Donovan McNabb, the Fox Sports 1/NBC Sprots Radio Analyst responded, via his radio show, in the most passive aggressive of ways (transcript courtesy of the Washington Post):
“I’m just trying to help him. Clearly the young generation...
If anyone thought that Donovan McNabb would stand idly by and not feel compelled to provide an unnecessary retort to comments Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III made during a GQ interview that were made public on Tuesday, well, they’d be sorely mistaken. In the GQ profile, RG3 reacted to how the former NFL (and […]The post Donovan McNabb says Robert Griffin III...
Former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb is acting like a jilted lover the way he keeps attacking Washington Redskins quarterback, Robert Griffin III. McNabb’s problem with Robert Griffin this time is Griffin’s relationship with the Redskins’ organization. McNabb has been wanting to meet with RG3, but the former number one draft choice wants no part of McNabb. According to...
Robert Griffin III is such a classy guy that even his burns are polite.
The Redskins quarterback chatted with GQ for a story recently, and he was asked about former Washington passer Donovan McNabb, who has criticized Griffin’s off-field activities. Griffin sidestepped his chance at potshots but still made it clear what he thought about soliciting advice from McNabb, who was never...
It all started when Donovan McNabb former Redskin quarterback told Mike Wise of the Washington Post that he believes Robert Griffin III is doing "too much right now; it’s just too much.”
McNabb later told Wise during the same interview: “I would really like for me and my dad to sit down with he and his dad just to tell them what we went through and talk about our experiences...
For those of you who haven’t noticed, Donovan McNabb and Robert Griffin III are not the best of friends. As an African-American and former Washington Redskins quarterback, McNabb seems to feel it is his duty to warn RG3 about possible mistakes he is making early on in his career. Griffin recently made it clear that […]
(via Getty Image)There’s a big huge cover story about RGIII in this month’s GQ that focuses on his rehab from knee surgery and the Rob Parker controversy and so forth, but the real fun is in the outtakes, which were posted this morning. Florio pulled out a two sentence parenthetical about Donovan McNabb and did that thing he does where he pours gasoline all over a house, hands...
FOX Sports 1 has been working toward its Saturday, Aug. 17, debut for quite some time, and that includes stocking the new network’s broadcast team with familiar faces from all over.
FOX has called on everyone from former athletes such as Gary Payton and Donovan McNabb to veteran TV men like Regis Philbin to get in front of the camera for the new network.
