Washington’s Robert Griffin III is everywhere. He is on your TV in a dozen of commercials, he is in your newspaper headlines whenever he goes anywhere, and he dominates the DMV sports blogs on the internets. You can’t seem to go anywhere without hearing his name or seeing people in his jersey. And the latter part is because his #10 jersey has now been the highest selling NFL jersey ever in a one year period. According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, more RGIII jersey’s were sold by the NFL in a fiscal year than any other jersey in history. If you are reading this, I would say there is probably better than a 50% chance that you own some sort of Robert Griffin Redskins gear, if not a jersey. I for one know the jersey hanging in my closet helped contribute to to the record breaking year. Just imagine how many they will sell when they change the name from the Redskins!…….I kid, I kid. Congrats to Robert. Robert Griffin III may be on the mend nursing his ACL tear, but his #10 jersey has been on a tear of its own. CSN Washington is reporting that RG3 just smashed the single season mark for jersey sales in a calendar year.
The NFL releases only the top 10 jersey sellers on their list. RG3 beat out some really big names as well.
