After losing their first game of the season to the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White blamed his own team for the loss (Credit: AP Photo)
Last week, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White said he believed his team had the pedigree to go undefeated this season. The Falcon’s receiver also said he hates everything about New Orleans and the Saints. After Sunday’s 31-27 loss, White has more reasons to hate the Saints.
Unfortunately, today, Roddy White took the easy way out and placed blame on the Falcons for their first loss, instead of their opponent, the New Orleans Saints. The Falcons failed on four straight attempts to score a touchdown, from within the Saints own 10 yard line. The game was essentially sealed after an incomplete pass to Roddy White in the end-zone with 1:42 left in the game.
White, is now 2-6 in games against the New Orleans Saints during his tenure with the Falcons.
On Sunday, White was asked what it said about the team that they could not beat the Saints.
“It don’t say much about us. I think we had our opportunities today,” said White, whose team dropped to 8-1. “It’s not like they just came out here and just won the game. I kind think we gave it away, we gave it to them.
“It wasn’t nothing they did, it was everything we did in not cashing in on opportunities but we play them in three weeks and we will be ready. They will be at the Dome and hopefully we will get them that time.”
White also said it was more the blown opportunities in the red-zone than the New Orleans Saints that cost the Falcons the game.
“It’s tough and very frustrating,” White said. “It was like we wanted it and we didn’t get what we wanted, especially when we are down there at the 1-yard line, you expect to get in but we couldn’t get it done. That’s the most disappointing thing about the whole game, us going down there and getting an opportunity inside the 5 a couple of times and not scoring touchdowns.”
White finished by saying that the Falcons need to fix their inability to get in the end-zone late in the game if they want to continue to be successful.
“It’s tough, you have an opportunity to win the game and you get it down there and you don’t get it, you don’t win it, it’s tough man,” he said. “We have every opportunity to win this game today and we didn’t get it done.
“We’ve got to fix our red-zone problem in the new future, next week. Other than that I love the way we played offensively and defensively. We came out there and got after those guys. It’s just a tough building to play in. I think we all went out there and played well except for in the red zone. That’s the reason why we lost this game.”

Tony Gonzalez, Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham Making Headway Into List of Top 10 Tight Ends in NFL History (Photos)
When Tony Gonzalez reeled in his 100th career touchdown catch Sunday, the feat was notable for several reasons, one of the biggest being how inevitable it seemed.
