After losing their first game of the season to the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White blamed his own team for the loss (Credit: AP Photo) Last week, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White said he believed his team had the pedigree to go undefeated this season. The Falcon’s receiver also said he hates everything about New Orleans and the Saints. After Sunday’s 31-27 loss, White has more reasons to hate the Saints. Unfortunately, today, Roddy White took the easy way out and placed blame on the Falcons for their first loss, instead of their opponent, the New Orleans Saints. The Falcons failed on four straight attempts to score a touchdown, from within the Saints own 10 yard line. The game was essentially sealed after an incomplete pass to Roddy White in the end-zone with 1:42 left in the game. White, is now 2-6 in games against the New Orleans Saints during his tenure with the Falcons. On Sunday, White was asked what it said about the team that they could not beat the Saints. “It don’t say much about us. I think we had our opportunities today,” said White, whose team dropped to 8-1. “It’s not like they just came out here and just won the game. I kind think we gave it away, we gave it to them. “It wasn’t nothing they did, it was everything we did in not cashing in on opportunities but we play them in three weeks and we will be ready. They will be at the Dome and hopefully we will get them that time.” White also said it was more the blown opportunities in the red-zone than the New Orleans Saints that cost the Falcons the game. “It’s tough and very frustrating,” White said. “It was like we wanted it and we didn’t get what we wanted, especially when we are down there at the 1-yard line, you expect to get in but we couldn’t get it done. That’s the most disappointing thing about the whole game, us going down there and getting an opportunity inside the 5 a couple of times and not scoring touchdowns.” White finished by saying that the Falcons need to fix their inability to get in the end-zone late in the game if they want to continue to be successful. “It’s tough, you have an opportunity to win the game and you get it down there and you don’t get it, you don’t win it, it’s tough man,” he said. “We have every opportunity to win this game today and we didn’t get it done. “We’ve got to fix our red-zone problem in the new future, next week. Other than that I love the way we played offensively and defensively. We came out there and got after those guys. It’s just a tough building to play in. I think we all went out there and played well except for in the red zone. That’s the reason why we lost this game.”   Follow us on Twitter @DownandDistance Down and Distance Executive Editor - Brett Krummenacker @BKrumm_SKThe post Roddy White blames Falcons failures, not New Orleans Saints for first loss appeared first on DOWN & DISTANCE.

Michael Turner's lost season

Full disclosure: I own Michael Smith on my only fantasy football team. More on that later, but at least you know that.Prior to the NFL season getting underway, I read the Falcons were going to move to a more uptempo style offense. I thought, why not? Matt Ryan is one of the good young quarterbacks in the league, and has a arsenal of weapons at his disposal. Julio Jones, Roddy White...

Chris Ivory's elusive 56 yard touchdown

Early in today’s matchup between the unbeaten Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints, New Orleans running back Chris Ivory took off on a 56 yard touchdown run. Ivory was able to elude not only the defenders but the sideline and cut back across the field, making the run roughly 80 yards all told. Article found on: Cosby Sweaters

Greer: Saints 'starting to see some light'

After going winless in September, the New Orleans Saints have clawed back to within one victory of a .500 record, and what looked like a lost season without suspended coach Sean Payton has turned into something with more promise. If the Saints win at struggling Oakland on Sunday, they will be 5-5 and one game out of the final wild card spot in the NFC. A huge 31-27 win against previously...

Muy Frio: Pierre Thomas

They ain’t giving me the ball Juan… Pierre Thomas may be the most all around talented RB on the Saints, who have a ton of talent at RB.  We all thought once Sproles could miss time that Thomas would be an automatic stud RB, right?  Wrong. In the last 2 games since Sproles has been sidelined, Thomas has been non-existent in the game plan.  He has only 11 carries over that...

Saints hand Falcons first loss, 31-27

Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints no longer sound like a team in denial when they discuss their refusal to give up on this most unusual of seasons. Perhaps all was not lost when they followed up a scandal-plagued offseason with an 0-4 start. Certainly, the Superdome was packed with reveling believers after tight end Jimmy Graham turned in a career performance and his teammates...

Tony Gonzalez, Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham Making Headway Into List of Top 10 Tight Ends in NFL History (Photos)

When Tony Gonzalez reeled in his 100th career touchdown catch Sunday, the feat was notable for several reasons, one of the biggest being how inevitable it seemed. Gonzalez has been dominating the NFL from the tight end position for more than a decade now, and it makes sense that he’d not only cross the 100-touchdown barrier but also put himself alongside just five others on the...

Houston Rockets Rookie Royce White Tortures Himself on Twitter; Headed to D League

I’m not a big fan of writing posts about whatever happens on twitter but every now and then something pops that I feel like addressing.  Yesterday Houston Rockets rookie Royce White tweeted his discontent about his relationship with the Rockets. For those who don’t know, the promising rookie talent has generalized anxiety disorder, a condition that can make routine day-to-day...

NFL Cougar Highlights: Week Ten

IT WASN’T THE longest touchdown run in New Orleans Saints history, but Chris Ivory’s 56-yard ramble against Atlanta on Sunday is being labeled one of the greatest ever witnessed in the Big Easy.
