Well so much for the draft being in April next season. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced Tuesday at the NFL spring meetings in Boston that the draft will be in May next season due to a scheduling conflict with an Easter performance at Radio City Music Hall.Goodell stated that instead of finding another location that it would be easier to move the dates of what has been tradition for many years to NFL fans. It's absurd that the NFL owners and players would allow something so ridiculous over a venue that's not even connected with the league other than for draft purpose, but under the new NFLPA Goodell has total control of when and where the draft is held.Despite the scheduling conflict only being through the 2014 draft, May is expected to be the month for all future drafts. There is also a chance that combine dates and the free agency period will change based on what the players have to say on this matter. If theses changes are made, they will not go into effect until 2015 at the earliest. The changes in the these dates will not be beneficial for either the players or teams. All it is doing is creating a shorter period of time for the young players to be able to learn their play books and bond with their new teammates. These dates have been in place all this time for a reason and basically Goodell needs to learn that if something is not broken to not try and fix it. This move is basically just a way for Goodell to flex his muscle since the owners could not make a decision.
