Since the Bills and Patriots are (most likely) done playing each other this season, it looks like Brandon Spikes won’t have another opportunity to lay more lumber on Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2012. Following New England’s 37-31 victory at Gillette on Sunday, the Harvard grad took a parting shot at the Patriots’ linebacker in his press conference. “I think he’s a punk at times. He took a cheap shot at Scott [Chandler] in the first game, and he was doing a lot of jabbering and talking and getting out there,” Fitzpatrick said. Spikes drilled Fitzpatrick in the third quarter, knocking off the QB’s helmet. The hit resulted in a 15-yard roughing the quarterback flag, and some jawing between the two combatants. A quarter later, as the Bills drove with the opportunity to win the game, Spikes destroyed Bills running back Fred Jackson, sending him to the sidelines in the waning minutes. Jackson had a front-row view of Fitzpatrick’s interception in the end zone to Devin McCourty that gave New England the victory. The Patriots have yet to lose to the Bills at home since Gillette Stadium opened in 2002. Fitzpatrick didn’t stop there in his criticism of Spikes however, going on to say about Spikes, “Not one of my favorite players. Not high on my list.” Buffalo center Eric Woods shared the sentiments of his signal-caller, calling Spikes a “headhunter,” and saying that “I guess he was trying to take Fitz out of the game,” in regards to the hit. Spike’s reaction to all the criticism? Bahahahahahaaaa !!
