Saints LB Johnathan Vilma is suing the Miami Marlins for mishandling his BBQ stand. The Marlins Stadium is home to a branch of Vilma’s Brother Jimmy’s BBQ franchise the operates out of Miami. According to Vilma the branch is not preforming up to Brother Jimmy’s BBQ standards. From NBC Miami through BlackSportsOnline “We did voice our concerns and we actually personally went there, we went to the games and we wouldn’t let them know who we were, we’d go and taste our own food and we’d tell them look, ‘this food is not to our standards,’” Vilma said during an appearance Wednesday on the Kup & Crowder Show on 560 WQAM. “It hurts us as a business because if for the first time a fan goes to Marlins stadium, they taste Brother Jimmy’s, they say ‘this food is terrible,’ and all they’re gonna remember is the bad food and or service that they got at the Marlins stadium and we expected better than that.” Need NFL Tickets? Jonathan Vilma sues Miami Marlins

New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma has a bone to pick with the Miami Marlins over some barbecue. Vilma is a co-owner of the Brother Jimmy’s BBQ franchise in Miami and he’s filed a lawsuit against the Miami Marlins over the restaurant’s failed concession stand in Marlins Park, according the NBC Miami. The NFL star alleges that the team failed to live up to its promises...

Saints Lofton to face former team in opener

The Saints are re-grouping after losing defensive captain linebacker Jonathan Vilma until at least week 8, and the man who is replacing Vilma as the Saints' signal caller faces a big test against the Falcons this Sunday, especially given that Atlanta is his former team. The Falcons drafted Curtis Lofton in 2008, the same year they took quarterback Matt Ryan: Atlanta snagged...

New Orleans Saints: Who and what to watch week 1

Junior Galette will be looking to back up his words and bring a good pass rush against Matt Ryan and the Falcons Junior Galette— This defense will be put to the test this Sunday and pass rush would help their cause against the high flying attack of Matt Ryan and company. Galette hasn’t been active in any of the preseason games, but that hasn’t stopped him from talking. He recently...

Saints are focused on one stat for season opener

The Saints' coaching staff has been emphasizing one particular stat this week, ahead of the Saints home opener against the Atlanta Falcons. Historically, these two rivals punish each other until literally the final seconds. "Seven of our last ten games with the Falcons, since Mike Smith has been the head coach, have been decided by the last possession," quarterback...

Superdome officials confident lights will stay on

Saints right tackle Zach Strief recalls sadness consuming him when he saw the Superdome go dark during the Super Bowl. Strief had settled permanently in New Orleans since being drafted by the Saints in 2006 - less than a year after Hurricane Katrina - and he understood the central role the rebuilt stadium had played in the city's regrowth. ''I didn't want the blackout...

Vilma in battle with Marlins over BBQ

Apparently the lack of quality baseball at the Miami Marlins' new ballpark is rivaled only by the lack of quality food, and that has the team in a battle with one tough opponent: New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma. The lack of quality standards is one of Vilma's biggest complaints in a lawsuit filed against the Marlins. See, Vilma co-owns a barbecue restaurant...

Blogging with the Enemy: Q&A with The Saints Nation

It's hate week as the Falcons prepare to do battle with their divisional rival New Orleans Saints in the season opener. We exchanged Q&As with The Saints Nation and neither of us pulled any punches. Here are our questions for The Saints Nation and their answers (come back later because I will link to my half of the Q&A when they post it at their site). As a primer, don...

Chick Chow: Roasted Falcon, A Little Gamey But Good For The Soul

Ever go to a fancy-schmancy restaurant but vacillate on what to order? Seems like Sean Payton had the same dilemma recently, but in the end settled on the perfect meal, Roasted Falcon. It’s a tender dish, but if the bird is not plucked, boiled, and cooked properly, it can lend a gamey taste. I recently read how our darling boys, Curtis Lofton and Junior Galette, adore plucking...

The Falcons and Saints give us an outstanding opening weekend match-up. Week 1 picks

The Falcons and Saints are going to give us one of the best match-ups of the weekend. After postings a record of 164-92 last season, I'm ready to breakthrough to 70% this season. We've started off on the right foot by getting the Broncos game right. Here's a look at Week 1. Vikings @ Lions - Detroit wins.  This game will give fans for both teams...

AA Podcast #59 - Darren Sharper, NFL Network

Today we welcome former All Pro safety and current NFL Network analyst Darren Sharper to the AA Podcast. Darren was a perennial Pro Bowler, a Super Bowl champion with the New Orleans Saints, and one of the best to ever play the position and is now transitioning into a media career at the league network. Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints: The Rivalry By the Numbers

Say what you want about the rest of the country, but there is no better way to start off the NFL season in the deep south than by pitting the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints against each other in Week One. This is a rivalry that just seems to get more bitter with age. The teams don't like each other, the coaches don't particularly care for each other, and the fans...

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints: 2013 Week 1 NFL Pick

Atlanta Falcons (0-0) at New Orleans Saints (0-0) I expect the 2013 Saints and Falcons to largely resemble the 2011 versions of their teams, when the Saints won 13 games and the Falcons 10 games. The Falcons’ 13 wins last year were done largely with smoke and mirrors and in a way that won’t be sustainable into 2013. 7 of those 13 wins came by a touchdown or less as they went...
