NFL Trade Rumors:
Jason La Canfora reports that the New Orleans Saints have restructured the contract of WR Marques Colston.
Colston, 29, received a five-year deal worth $36.3 million last year. He had a $4.5 million base salary coming his way next season.
Mike Florio of PFT reports that $2.8 million of that figure was converted to a signing bonus that will be paid out over the duration of the deal. Florio adds that this should free up $2.1 million in cap space for New Orleans.
La Canfora mentions that Saints have offered LB Jonathan Vilma and DE Will Smith “lesser deals” to remain with the team.

Andrew's post on who were the worst picks the Saints ever had inspired me to write a little post of myself. I looked at a possible scenario where the Saints had not drafted the guy they picked but had drafted another guy that was drafted later, next man up. Couple of rules: the player must be the Saints' first pick of that year and he must be compared to the same position...
Picking the best non 1st round draft picks for the Saints was a fun exercise, but a very difficult one too. There is no way I could come up with a 10 top list, too many good players to name. So I decided to do 20. Some great Saints players on here. I hope you enjoy the trip down memory lane, or the history lessen if you're a newer/younger Saints fan.

2012 was always primed to be the ‘lost season’ in Louisiana. Anybody who thought that the players could react to the revolving door within the coaching staff thanks to the Bountygate scandal and not miss a step was always going to be wide off the mark. They only had to look at the period after Sean Payton broke his leg during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game in 2011 to know that...
