Veteran running back Sammy Morris has spoken with the Patriots about a possible return, but it does not appear likely he'll be joining the team.

As the Patriots do every offseason, the bring guys in, lead guys out; training camp fodder, due diligence, whatever you want to call it. A spate of injuries could land him here, he knows the system, but it's a long shot.

The 35-year-old Morris told the Boston Herald: "It's definitely reciprocal,"...  "I'm still here. My family is here. My kids still go to school here, so it's definitely reciprocal. I've been around a while, so I kind of just know the deal. Words are one thing, but all I can do is take care of my part. If something materializes, then I know I'll be ready."

Morris' played well as a Patriot. He can get you some all-purpose yards here and there, but no big plays at his age. In his four years with the team he amassed 1,486 yards and 12 TDs. In fact, his most memorable event as a Patriot was being involved in Tom Brady's devastating season-ending knee injury.

It was on a Bernard Pollard blitz that Morris picked up. He couldn't quite contain Pollard as Brady stepped up to throw. Pollard dove at Brady's legs, hitting him in the knee with his shoulder.

Sammy's fault? Maybe, maybe not, depends on who you ask, but for that alone, keep him away from Foxboro. We're superstitious like that.

Morris was with the Dallas Cowboys last season, playing in 3 games, running for 98 yards on 28 carries.
