ATLANTA - OCTOBER 18: Quarterback Matt Ryan #2 of the Atlanta Falcons lines up for a play during the first quarter of the game against the Chicago Bears at the Georgia Dome on October 18, 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)

Since the 2012 season is coming hard and fast, I thought a little review and speculation was in order, so I went through the Chargers regular season schedule (If the readers really wanted I could try and guess how each teams third and fourth strings will perform against each other).

// > Now, to clarify, as not only a Charger writer but a fan as well, I would like, hope and expect the Chargers to win every game they play, however this is more of a realistic approach to the first half of the schedule. This realistic approach is free of stereotypical Chargers ‘sleeping’ period. I don’t think the Bolts plan on sleeping at any part of the season. Week 1. Oakland Raiders- I think the momentum and excitement that the Chargers will carry into this game will shine bright on the big Monday Night stage. Turner will be looking to make a big statement against his sworn enemy, the Oakland Raiders. Phillip Rivers will have a big game. San Diego wins big in the opener.  SD 34  OAK 10 Week 2. Tennessee Titans- First regular season game at Qualcomm, Chargers will be coming off a big rivalry win in the season opener and will be just as excited as the fans are to be home. Titans defense is tough, but Mathews and will find their niche and take over the game. Chris Johnson will struggle to find his pace in the run game and will end up costing the Titans. SD 24 TEN 7 Week 3. Atlanta Falcons- Atlanta will travel across the United States to face the Bolts on their turf. Matt Ryan will be looking to throw the ball a lot in this game because Turner will be getting shut down in the middle. However I don’t think that he will have much time to situate himself in the pocket and will make a lot of mistakes. Chargers take it to go 3-0. SD 17 ATL 13 Week 4. Kansas City Chiefs- This one could go either way, the game is hosted at Arrowhead Stadium, which has proved to be a difficult place to win in for the Chargers. I believe it will be a close battle in a high scoring game, but I think San Diego faces their first loss in KC. SD 34 KC 37 Week 5. New Orleans Saints- Saints come into this year wounded with the bounty scandal, without a coach and much of their defense diminished, the Saints don’t have much to be able to stop the Chargers offensively. Meachem will be playing with a particular interest to beat his old team to show them what they missed on. Bolts will still need to stop Drew Brees and the electric offense of the Saints. Which they will prepare for. SD 21 NO 10 Week 6. Denver Broncos- This one comes down to how much momentum the Bronco’s are bringing from their previous games. If they have won a lot of them and are on a roll, I think that they have more of a chance. Peyton Manning seems to thrive off momentum. Will that be enough yet? Still probably not, at this point in my prediction, they’ve gone 1-1 in division games and will want to push that above the .500 mark to set a tone for the rest of the season. The game is also in Qualcomm, which will only make the endeavor harder for Manning and friends. SD 27 DEN 13 Week 7. Bye week. Week 8. Cleveland Browns- Though this game is in Cleveland and the Browns fans are the closest to being clinically insane when it comes to how intense they are when they attend games, the Browns just don’t have the talent yet to go face to face with a super bowl contender like the Chargers. I think Richardson will get shut down both in the middle and on the edge. Weeden/McCoy will have a tough day at home.
