Many people are calling last night's Chargers victory a job saver for head coach Norv Turner. If only it were that easy. Sure, the Chargers can still make the playoffs, but the road from this point on is much tougher.Currently, the Fighting Norvs are 4-4. Of course, we have to wait until after Sunday's games to truly get an idea of the playoff picture. The Broncos are 4-3, and play at Cincinnati. If the Broncos win, that puts them in the drivers seat for the AFC West.Unfortunately for the Chargers, the Broncos have already played the toughest part of their schedule. The Broncos remaining games are:11/04 at Cincinnati11/11 at Carolina11/18 San Diego11/25 at Kansas City12/02 Tampa Bay12/06 at Oakland12/16 at Baltimore12/23 ClevelandI can seriously see the Broncos losing only one of those games, to the Ravens, and even that's questionable with the injuries they're dealing with. After all, Baltimore is the only team left on their schedule that is over .500. Undoubtedly, some will point to Peyton Manning's debacle in Atlanta (3 interceptions) and say that could happen again. Sure, it could. I'll also point out that the Broncos only lost that game by a touchdown, 21-27 and the Falcons are undefeated. Five games later, Manning has only thrown one interception, and has thrown over 300 yards in each game since that game in Atlanta. As for the Chargers, because that's who we're talking about here, they ended a four game losing streak with last night's win over the Chiefs. The Chargers next five games are brutal.11/11 at Tampa Bay11/18 at Denver11/25 Baltimore12/02 Cincinnati12/09 at PittsburghI wouldn't be surprised to see them lose at least three of those. They must also get better production from Philip Rivers, who has been on a career death spiral for the last season and a half. This year alone, he has already thrown 10 interceptions, with 12 touchdowns. Last year, Rivers set a career mark with 20 interceptions. Half way through this season, he is well on his way to matching that mark.Sure the Chargers could still squeak into the playoffs as a 9-7 wild card. After what happened in the AFC West last year, anything is possible. They control their own destiny, and that's the precarious position Norv Turner finds himself in. No one can argue against Turner's tenure as an offensive coordinator, but that success never comes to fruition when he's the head coach.
