Earlier this week it was reported by several media outlets that assault chargers would not be sought after in the case of San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks.  This is good news for Brooks but it should not excuse the type of behavior that was written in the police reports which showed that Brooks hit teammate Lamar Divens over the head with a bottle. Divens allegedly threw Brooks’ car keys into his yard as a joke but Brooks took exception and instigated the confrontation.  The police also described Brooks as being intoxicated and Divens as the designated driver.  Divens is 6-foot-3 and 340 pounds, so he was more than capable enough to defend himself and should be commended for not escalating the incident. But the stupidity did not stop there.  The NFL network and NFL.com later obtained records which stated that Divens asked for $1 million after the incident.  The fact that this is not the first time that both of these guys have had an altercation where drinking was a catalyst for questionable behavior should be enough for the organization to step in and discipline them both. Jim Harbaugh has stated over and over again how much of a priority it is to have high quality individuals on the roster and Brooks has clearly found himself in these types of situations numerous times so a suspension is clearly in order.  Although the loss of one of the better outside linebackers in the league for a game or two would hurt, it does not compare to the amount of good that a message like this would show the rest of the players in that locker room.  That there is clearly other ways you can hurt the team, not just on the field. News and Notes: The 49ers have added conerback Eric Wright formerly of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in exchange for a conditional late-round pick in 2014.   Wright only played in five games last year due to injuries and suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.  He will join a 49er group that already features other veteran corners like Carlos Rodgers, Tarell Brown, and newly acquired Nnamdi Asomugha. UPDATE: Recently acquired conerback Eric Wright failed his physical with the 49ers which voided the trade.  After the trade, reports surfaced that on Wright was arrested on July 12 for an unspecified reason and the Buccaneers have come out and said that they disclosed that information to the 49ers.  After the trade was rescinded, Wright was released by Tampa Bay.
