We’re In! This team just continues to impress me. Now sitting at #2 all time in a three game scoring spree at 150 points! I said it before, but who in the hell stole my Seahawks and replaced them with real football players? Arizona, and Buffalo are one thing, but San Francisco was the unanimous “best team” in the league last week, and we just destroyed them tonight. Defense was on point, with exception to the 4th and 17 TD late in the 4th quarter, but to hold the Niners to no TD’s, and two empty red zone opportunities up to that point is just crazy talk. Russell Wilson just keeps adding up TD passes in route to what should be a Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, and Marshawn Lynch continues to baffle opposing defenses. Every thing looks to be in place for the Seahawks to make a push for the Super Bowl this year. Offensive game ball This probably should go combined to Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch, but I think the play of Doug Baldwin deserves it more. Baldwin made the most of his 4 receptions for two TD’s, and the first big play on the day when the ball came completely away from his body before recapturing it for a huge gain in the 1st quarter. Doug Baldwin gets my O game ball this week (Photo: seahawks.com) Wilson looked great once again, going 15/21 with 4 TD’s and one pick (not his fault), on 171 yards passing. Not huge numbers by any means, but as his performances have shown all year long, he makes the big plays count when he needs to. Lynch once again rolled through the D for over 100 yards, 111 to be exact on 24 carries. He scored the first TD on the day, a 24 yard scamper through the 49ers defense, and added one more, his first through the air, on the very next drive. To bad I was knocked out of the playoffs in my fantasy leagues, because Wilson and Lynch would have gotten me some pretty big numbers. To cap off the offensive scoring plays for the Hawks, Anthony McCoy had the final receiving TD for the Hawks, a 6 yard post while Wilson was scrambling out of the pocket. Robert Turbin went for 38 yards on 3 carries, and had 20 yards receiving on 2 receptions. Wilson added 29 rushing yards for the Hawks as well. Receiving numbers looked like this: Golden Tate 2/27, Jermaine Kearse 1/17 (dropped pass in end zone as well), Zach Miller 2/15, Sidney Rice 1/14. Richard Sherman was huge against SF Sunday night. (Photo: Seattle P.I.) Defensive game ball Even though his biggest play of the day came on special teams, Richard Sherman gets my pick this week. When the 49ers were trying to cut the lead to 14-3, Big Red Bryant got his paw on the kick, deflecting it toward the sidelines, ready for Sherman to pick it up and go the distance for a score. This was all the scoring the Seahawks would need on the day, up 21-0 early, on the way to their 42-13 romp over their rivals. Sherman also added a key knock down in the end zone in the first half, and an interception on the same type of play in the end zone as well. In what my have been his last game of the year, Sherman held nothing back knowing that if the Hawks won, him and Brandon Browner might be able to play again this season. KJ Wright had the lone sack of the day for Seattle, good for technically 0 yards, but good enough to get in the head of Colin Kaepernick. The rest of the defensive stats went like this: Tackles, Richard Sherman and KJ Wright both had 5, tackle leader Bobby Wagner added 4 more tonight, several, including Kam Chancellor, and rookie Jeremy Lane had two, while Chris Clemons and Leroy Hill both had 1. A great defensive performance all around, led by the inspired play of Richard Sherman. Stats Box Score One more game on the docket for the Hawks this year, one that we will need to win for a chance to win the division. After tonight, that doesn’t look like too much of a problem.
