You don’t have to pay very close attention to the NFL offseason to know that there is a lot of hype surrounding Robert Griffin III. Andrew Luck may have been the top overall pick in the draft, but RG3 is by far the most intriguing rookie in the league at the moment. If you ask his teammates, the buzz is well deserved.

“He has a pretty good zip on the ball,” Santana Moss said earlier this week according to CSNWashington.com. “He has a quick release and that’s something I didn’t expect until I got out there and started going through practice with him. Once I had seen a couple of throws, I was like, ‘He’s that dude.’”

Moss added that Washington has been looking for “that dude” for quite some time now. Griffin has yet to even play an exhibition game at the NFL level, but his teammates are already excited by what they see in practice. Last week, another Redskin said RG3 is way ahead of where Michael Vick was at this stage in his career. Moss, however, believes RG3 needs only be compared to himself.

“To be here with him practicing, going over the plays and seeing how he can throw the ball, that was an eye-opener for a lot of us,” Moss said. “He’s going to be compared to a lot of folks and a lot of people, but I feel like he can only be himself.”

Griffin is “that dude” and is about te become the first player in NFL history with Roman numerals on his jersey, so there’s no arguing he’s one of a kind. Let’s just hope living up to high expectations isn’t something that makes him nervous.
