The Seahawks' opponent this week, Detroit, is about to kick off its Week 7 game, but the Seahawks are already off the practice field having begun preparation for Sunday's game in Detroit.
Among those joining the team on the field for the first time in a while were cornerback Walter Thurmond, who has been out all season while recovering from a leg injury, and guard John Moffitt, who has missed four straight games with a knee injury.
Thurmond broke his fibula last season, and originally was expecting to be back for the start of this season, but he re-fractured his leg in March, which led to him opening the season on the Physically Unable to Perform List.
Players on the PUP list have a three-week window beginning after Week 6 to either be added to the active roster, placed on injured reserve or released, and Thurmond being back at practice is a pretty strong indication he'll be added to the roster before that time is up. Whether that happens this week, however, remains to be seen, Pete Carroll said.
"Its great to have him back," Carroll said. "Its a real positive for him. Its been a long haul him being out. Hopefully he can hang, well see what that means. Well just take it one week at a time and see where it goes, I dont have any idea what we would do with that at this point for this weekend." Source: The Herald Attached Thumbnails

Pete Carroll calls out Jim Harbaugh
It only took a season and a half, but it would appear that Pete Carroll and Jim Harbaugh have carried their feud from their college days over to the professional level.
Mid-Season look at NFL Playoffs
The 2012 NFL Season is reaching the midway point of the season and the NFL Playoffs are beginning to take shape. This is the time when we begin looking at the bigger picture of things in terms of wins and losses. Every week wins and losses are important but many seem to think wins and losses aren’t as important in the beginning of the season since teams can recover.Yet, looking...
Rookie report card: Week seven
In my weekly column, we will take a long look at two rookies. I will compare their performance to date against my original expectations of them. Let’s continue this series off by looking back at Seattle Seahawks running back Robert Turbin and Indianapolis Colts running back Vick Ballard after their week seven games:
Robert Turbin, RB SEAHere is what I saw in college...
Seahawks QB Russell Wilson loves Michael Jackson, once dressed like him for Halloween
As we near the start of Halloween, Seattle Seahawks rookie quarterback Russell Wilson was recently interviewed by the folks over at ESPN the Magazine about his favorite costume.
Russell went with the "King of Pop":
What was your best Halloween costume?
I was Michael Jackson a few years ago, in his outfit from "Thriller."
Normally, that would be a pedestrian...
*My two cents* The Seahawks need to trade for Dwayne Bowe
Pull The Trigger!
Headline: The solution is a QB change; the compromise is the Chiefs WR making Seattle’s offense better.
The Seattle Seahawks need to do something for their defense, a defense that is the best in the NFL and could win a Super Bowl if given the opportunity.
Since no one in management or on the coaching staff is willing to change their minds (a stubborn bunch),...
Q will pub Five Seahawks who put the Special in Special Teams
Always a Bright Spot
On days when the Seattle Seahawks‘ defense can’t even hold on (granted they are on the field for the majority of the game) and the offense is… well, being the Seahawks offense, the Special Teams unit helps out both units.
Be it by giving the opposing offense awful starting field position, or Leon Washington electrifying the game with a stunning return...
Pete Carroll calls out Jim Harbaugh
After last Thursday’s win over the Seahawks, 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh made it clear that he was unhappy with how his receivers were being covered. He felt like the Seattle cornerbacks were getting away with holding.Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll called Harbaugh out on Brock & Salk on ESPN 710 (via ProFootballTalk.com) because he told Giants offensive coordinator Kevin...
Jim Harbaugh Not Happy with the Play of Seahawks Cornerbacks
Brian Bahr/Getty Images
The Seattle Seahawks probably have the biggest cornerbacks tandem in the league. They are led by Richard Sherman, who is 6-3 and 195 pounds. On the other side of the field is Brandon Browner, who is listed at 6-4 and 221 pounds.
That’s crazy to see and that’s what led to some of the team’s big success over some of the best passing offenses in the...
Seahawks expect to get Walter Thurmond back for week 8
According to ProFootballWeekly.com, the Seattle Seahawks expect to get back cornerback Walter Thurmond in time for their week 8 match up with the Detroit Lions.“Our sources in Seattle tell us the team is looking forward to getting a boost in the secondary with the return of CB Walter Thurmond, a former starter for a relatively short spell who started the season on the physically...
Pete Carroll Fires Back at Jim Harbaugh Over Hypocritical Statements About NFL Officiating
The Pete Carroll-Jim Harbaugh rivalry has thankfully continued into the NFL.
Carroll had criticism over Harbaugh's recent complaints that the Seahawks' defensive backs were getting away with too-physical play down the field, implying that it contradicted Harbaugh's accusation that Giants' offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride was trying to influence...
Seahawks being Physical
Those of us that have been watching the Seahawks play the last year have figured out that our defense is physical and stout. Pete Carroll has brought in big playmakers that fly to the ball. The smallest guy on the defense is one of the biggest playmakers, and is by no means small.
Brandon Browner(6’4″ 221 lbs) and Richard Sherman(6’3″ 195 lbs) are the two corners on...
Seahawks: Missed it by ‘THAT’ much!
Seahawks, out of town, just like me.
The Seahawks played the 49ers at Candlestick Park in San Francisco last Thursday (October 18th) in a game that could have vaulted Seattle into first place in the NFC West. I was in Los Angeles visiting a friend. I told him I write a blog for the Seahawks and have to watch the game. Due to his busy work/travel schedule, my friend doesn’t often...
Seattle back to practice after loss to 49ers
(Eds: Updates. With AP Photos.) By TIM BOOTH AP Sports Writer While the Seattle Seahawks returned to practice Monday after an extended weekend off and started looking ahead to Detroit, some of their thoughts remained in the Bay Area.
They were still smarting from a 13-6 loss to San Francisco on Thursday night that was punctuated by dropped passes and a defense that failed to adjust...
Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll Dismisses 49ers' Claims Over Physical Play
49ers coach Jim Harbaugh was upset about the physical coverage of Seahawks corners Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner in his team's 13-6 win over Seattle.
Harbaugh vocally questioned why Seattle's secondary wasn't flagged repeatedly and promised "take that up with the" league office.
Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll doesn't believe they'll come...
A Tale of Two Halves
Last Thursday’s road game against the 49ers was supremely frustrating to watch. The Seahawks looked awful, and that’s led to a lot of fans voicing opinions of the “fire coach X and/or bench player Y” variety. That’s understandable, but I think it’s premature to be calling for changes that drastic. Right now, the Seahawks are 3-0 at home and 1-3 on the road, with...
