Backup quarterback Matt Flynn isn't injured per se, but the team has been cautious about his workload and while he is available and ready to play. It's understandable if you are confused after some conflicting reports, but coach Pete Carroll was asked a series of questions about both quarterbacks in an attempt to flesh out the situation under center for Seattle.

Flynn's workload has been monitored after he suffered from a sore elbow back in August, which prevented him from playing in the team's third exhibition game.

"Matt hasn't had a lot of work," Carroll said. "We've hoped that it would help the elbow situation. He has never thrown a lot in any of the practices. He's just, he's done the things we've asked him to do. We've counted on him to play in every game. We haven't had a third quarterback on the roster because Matt can play, but we have had a pitch count for him in a sense and made sure that we didn't work him past where we thought it was the right way to do it."

Is Flynn's status a determining factor in whether Carroll could even consider making a change at quarterback?

Carroll said: " No, Matt's ready to play. Matt's ready to play. We just don't know what's going to happen when he gets a lot of work. He might be all right, we don't know that, but we have not taken him there yet. But no, he's ready to play in every game and he's ready to go in the very next play if we need him. So the competition goes on in my mind as it does in every position on our football team. Our guys continue to compete, but he has not had the opportunity because we give the starter all the reps, and with a young guy, first time, we're giving him every single snap we can. That's how this has gone throughout."

Seahawks staying with Wilson as starting QB

Despite Seattle's offensive struggles in its first four games, the Seahawks are sticking with rookie Russell Wilson as their starting quarterback. Coach Pete Carroll told The News Tribune of Tacoma, Wash., that Matt Flynn, the team's big offseason acquisition, wasn't ready to play because of an elbow injury that has limited him in practice. But Carroll later backtracked...

Russell Wilson had a very rough outing this weekend versus the Rams

Russell Wilson had a rough go of it in Seattle’s 19-13 Week 4 loss to the Rams, completing 17-of-25 passes for just 160 yards, zero touchdowns and three interceptions.  Wilson was under constant pressure, Wilson was routinely flushed from the pocket, but only one of his three interceptions was his fault. Doug Baldwin let the ball get ripped out of his hands late in the second...

Super Bowl Revenge For The Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks Peck And Claw Back From An NFL Disgrace If there's a common truth for sports fans to embrace, it is this: THE SEATTLE SEAHAWKS ARE DUE. Don't mistake Golden Tate catching the Green Bay Packer who caught the ball as any sort of payback. That's not even a decent start, not when titles come into play. With Super Bowl championships hanging in the balance...

Seattle Seahawks offense in a nutshell (pictorial)

Seattle’s struggling offense Big 4th Down call. Turning point for Seattle’s muted 2nd half performance. Watch for my breakdown of Seattle’s offensive performance against the NFC West worst St. Louis Rams. I will look for the seminal play that epitomizes the struggles of Seattle’s offense. I’m not so impetuous as to abandon all hope in the current system. However, some...

Seahawks Release OT Allen Barbre

According to the Seahawks website, offensive tackle Allen Barbre has been released.  Barbre completed his four-game suspension for violation of the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs, and has been released rather than added to the 53-man roster. Barbrie was signed by the Seahawks in 2011 after he was released by the Green Bay Packers.  Barbre was originally drafted by...

Seahawks MMQB: Miscues and missed opportunities as Seahawks lose 19-13

The better team won I should re-phrase that, the team that played better on Sunday won.  Hats off to the St. Louis Rams for the big divisional win.  The Rams coaching staff put together a great game plan that put the team in position to win. The players executed the plan and that is why they won.  On the other side of the field, the Seattle Seahawks entered the Edward Jones Dome...

QB Matt Flynn Not Healthy Enough To Start For Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson struggled against the Rams on the road throwing 3 interceptions. So it was natural that the question would come up about whether the Seahawks might consider turning to their big free-agent acquisition, Matt Flynn. John Boyle of the Everett Herald reports Seahawks coach Pete Carroll appeared on 710 ESPN Seattle this morning and said that...

Bettor Geno DiFelice won $725,275 on Packers-Seahawks Hail Mary call

Amid the influx of horror stories we have heard about replacement officials and how awful they were for the game of football, there is at least one story that sticks out from all the rest. By blowing one of the biggest calls in NFL history and essentially handing the Seahawks a win over the Packers last week, the NFL’s replacement refs changed the lives of Branford, Ontario’s...
