Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Eric Wright can now call himself a 49er. The team traded him to San Francisco on Friday in exchange for a conditional 2014 draft pick. There was already speculation that the Bucs would release Wright after his suspension in 2012 for using PEDS. The penalty wiped out the remaining guaranteed money on his deal, so they were certainly free to do so. They held onto him and eventually got something in return. What the San Francisco 49ers get on the field is anyone's guess, but of the field, they must already have a headache. Questions are being asked all around  - Did the 49ers know Wright had been arrested on July 12 for suspicion of DUI? The 49ers said that they did their "due diligence" on Wright before the trade, so we can assume they knew. The latest news on the brewing controversy came Friday night - according to ProFootballTalk.com, per a league source with knowledge of the discussions, the Buccaneers disclosed the July 12 arrest for suspicion of DUI during trade talks with the 49ers. Mike Florio: ' From Tampa’s perspective, it was the right thing to do.  From the 49ers’ perspective, the organization fairly can be criticized for bringing into the community someone who possibly will cause mayhem on the highways. On that point, Seahawks fans likely will have a field day, given 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh’s recent comments regarding the rash of PED violations in Seattle.  Though drinking and driving doesn’t constitute cheating in a football sense, Harbaugh has opened the door to charges that he was throwing stones from the front porch of a glass house.
