The St. Louis Rams are looking for a new defensive coordinator now that Gregg Williams, who remains suspended because of his involvement in the New Orleans Saints bounty gate, likely will never wear the headset in St. Louis. Rob Ryan, twin brother of New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan, was recently fired by the Dallas Cowboys and is looking for a new gig. Ryan is one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL.  The Cowboys had the 19th ranked defense in the NFL in 2012, which was a drastic improvement over just a couple of seasons ago.  But would Rob Ryan be a good fit in St. Louis? The answer is likely no. First off, Ryan runs a 3-4 defense, which is in stark contrast from what Jeff Fisher and Les Snead have done with the personnel on the Rams defensive unit. The strength of the Rams defense is two-fold, first being the defensive end position and secondly, the corner backs. Chris Long and Robert Quinn are traditional 4-3 defensive ends and it would be hard to imagine them tra...

NFL Rumors: Report suggests Rob Ryan to the St. Louis Rams

The Dallas Cowboys fired defensive coordinator Rob Ryan earlier this week. Ryan told reporters that he would be unemployed for about five minutes before landing another job in the NFL. Several rumors suggested that Ryan would join his brother Rex in New York with the Jets in need of a defensive coordinator, but that reunion is likely not to happen now. Reports are suggesting this...

Greg McElroy shows how Jets players disrespect Rex Ryan

New York Jets quarterback Greg McElroy appeared on ESPN‘s Colin Cowherd and it was a caller who would notice something very interesting about the interview. Colin asked McElroy a number of questions regarding Mark Sanchez, Rex Ryan and his emotions of the season. He also touched on the 2010 National Championship Alabama Crimson Tide team. For those that don’t remember, McElroy...

Why did Jerry Jones fire Rob Ryan?

Well, see ya later Why did Jerry Jones fire Rob Ryan? After the season was over, Jones famously said that things were going to be uncomfortable around Valley Ranch. He promised, in so many words, significant change. But why Rob Ryan? Sure, the defense was porous and played poorly. But Ryan had to assemble a team that excluded as many as seven of his starters. The team’s top tackler...

Rob Ryan claims he hasn’t been hired by the Rams

It was reported by the New York Post last night that Rob Ryan had been hired as the Rams’ new defensive coordinator. Now according to Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com, Ryan claims he’s on a beach and hasn’t talked to anyone. “I’m on a beach and have talked to nobody and have no comment,’ said Ryan.       Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script...

Rob Ryan: I’m On A Beach, I’m Not The New DC Of The Rams

Last night we reported that Rob Ryan had agreed to become the next defensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams.  Today Ryan has shot down that report as false according to Pro Football Talk.   ”I’m on a beach and have talked to nobody and have no comment.” Ryan who boasted after his firing that he would be unemployed 5 minutes, is still unemployed some 4 days later, for...

Rob Ryan reportedly close to deal with Rams

It looks like New York is only big enough for one of the Ryan twins after multiple reports Friday said  that Rob Ryan was nearing a deal with the St. Louis Rams as their defensive coordinator. Rob Ryan was the Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator until he was fired Tuesday.  Ryan's dismissal, along with the New York Jets canning of defensive coordinator Mike Pettine and linebackers...

Dallas Cowboys: Rob Ryan Had to Go as Defensive Coordinator

The pain of a 28-18 season-ending loss and a very average 8-8 season still a fresh wound, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said three days after the disappointment in Washington that things were going to get "very uncomfortable" at Valley Ranch over the next few weeks. The news Monday of the firing of running backs coach Skip Peete stunned nobody and hardly registered on...

Rams hire Rob Ryan as defensive coordinator

Following his dismissal from the Cowboys on Tuesday, Rob Ryan quipped that he'd be out of work for "five minutes." It took a little longer, but the end result was all the same. According to Brian Costello of the New York Post, the Rams have hired Ryan as their new defensive coordinator. Ironically, the news comes just hours after Dallas filled Ryan's vacancy...

Dallas Cowboys: Rob Ryan Fired Because Of Injuries And Bad GM

Not sure if this is out there but I just heard the Cowboys have fired Rob Ryan. Brian Costello (@BrianCoz) January 9, 2013That's how it all started.  Within minutes it had spread like wildfire.  I didn't want to believe it- this man, who held together a respectable defense in the final weeks of the season using walk-on players, had just been fired. This hadn't been...

New York Jets clean house, fire Sparano

The New York Jets are continuing to clean house. Today, the rebuilding management fired their offensive coordinator, Tony Sparano. The move was not surprising considering the Jets terrible season.  Since Sparano  was hired, many wondered if he was right for the job. With a background as an offensive line coach and no experience with quarterbacks, this was yet another move by the...

Breaking Down the New York Jets Roster – Again

Now that Rex Ryan has been retained as Jets Head Coach and he and Woody Johnson went ahead with their press conference/public stoning by the media, the big story in JetsLand these past few days has been who the new General Manager is going to be. The bigger issue, however, is what that new GM is going to do once he takes over the office previously occupied by Mike Tannenbaum. It’s...

Tony Dungy: Cowboys Need Three “Hard to Find” Players to Make Monte Kiffin’s 4-3 Work

Dallas’ decision to fire Rob Ryan and bring in Monte Kiffin as defensive coordinator has been met with optimism from some Cowboys fans, but those fans may want to backpedal a bit when they hear what ex-Colts/Bucs coach Tony Dungy had to say about Kiffin’s outlook in Big D  (via Rick Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News): “Monte Kiffin is a great coach..But if they (Dallas...
