After taking a look at where we stand right now at WR/TE and on the offensive line, it's time to take a look at the field general. In 2012, Matt Ryan was the only QB to throw a pass last year for the Falcons and he was very prolific throwing 615 times and completing 68.6% (a career high) of those for a career high 32 TDs.  Last year, the Falcons QB squad consisted of Ryan, Luke McCown and Dominique Davis. McCown's best season was in 2007 when he played in five games for the Bucs but over the last five years he had thrown 0 TD vs 5 INT. McCown is now with the Saints and it opens up space for players with a higher ceiling than he has. Dominique Davis is still part of the team and after making the squad as an undrafted free agent, he looks poised to be the primary clipboard holder for the Falcons. Davis's primary competition with come from seventh round draft pick Sean Renfree of Duke. Renfree played for David Cutcliffe, who also had the chance in his career to coach both Peyton and Eli Manning. It's safe to say that Renfree will come into camp with a good handle on how to play the QB position. Is this years Falcons QB group better than last year? I think it is or at least it has much more potential. Matt Ryan is Matt Ryan. We know what he can do and he's one of the best QBs in the league right now and is at or near the peak of his potential. Davis and Renfree have potential to be really solid options if needed in a pinch but they are still very young. If you are a Falcons fan you have to be happy with where the Falcons are at in terms of the QB position.
